Anybody have the 72 txi?
I've had the 54tx for a couple weeks and I love it, but was wondering if I should get the newer one for a $150 more....it has 3 component in's, I-Link, and HDMI output....
but I also know that it is lighter than the 54tx and uses bi-polar instead of MOSFET....
any opinions?

Depends what is most important to you. Bells and whistles, or amp quality.
I would say that if you plan on using an external power amp the upgrade might be a good idea. However if plan on running your speakers with the internal amp stay where you're at.
Of course the above also depends on the speakers you are running.
Hopefully that gets you started.:)

I'm running rt800i fronts, cs400i center and (cough) Bose rears..svs 25-31 subPioneer Elite VSX-53, Polk RT800i fronts, Polk CS400i center, FX500i surround, Velodyne sub -
That is a nice setup (cough) minus the rears.:)
This is just my opinion, but if I were you I would buy the next step up receiver for the ability to expand (video connections etc...) or maybe find a less expensive receiver with some of the same options, then add a power amp. All you need to do is make sure the receiver you end up with has "preouts" so that you can use an external amp.
Like I said this is just my opinion. What you have now is still going to be a good sounding system, and better than what the majority of people have, but it could still be better.:D
BTW: Welcome to the forum!
