Anyone here not prefer DTS?

I'm guessing most people prefer DTS, but I wonder if there are folk on the forum who generally prefer DD over DTS.

I used to buy or rent DVDs just because they were in DTS. Now it seems that sometimes DTS is over processed on the more recent DVDs. I'm wondering if this is most attibutable to my HT system changes or recent advances in DD technology.

Depending upon the DVD, sometimes I'll switch back and forth between DD and DTS and there's not much difference at all. Other times the DTS is too loud and annoying, and the bass is entirely too hot.

Actually I always choose DD over DTS, I find it has a better overall blend. As you mentioned I find DTS containing to much bass.

I don't go looking for DTS and generally agree with Willow. DTS seems to "kick it up a notch" on the bass...which if you are a real basshead (like many are) it is a good thing. I prefer a little more balanced approach. If a DVD has both...sometimes I'll go with DTS...but usually, I never even look.

It all depends on the DVD. On Spiderman II, the DTS track has better resolution that the DD track. On some DVD's either mix can be "overcooked". Underworld is a good example of an overcooked DD track. However, I do enjoy the extra bass in the DTS Pod Race.

I agree that it depends on the DVD. I love DTS, personally, and I think it utilizes the surrounds a lot more as well as give the bass an extra punch, but to me that's a little closer to reality. I guess everyones ear hears something different, but that DTS logo often sells me on DVDs.

My cat prefers DD. dts freaks him out too much. He is the only one in the house that does prefer DD though.

But to agree, it largely depends on the DVD. Its not universal.

depends on the time of day.
Dolby is prob. more accurate, as many a/b listening comparos have stated.
But DTS has that wow factor, and when the neighbors aren't around, i'm a sucker for the wow-factor.

I most often stick with DD. About the only time I bother trying both is when I'm listening to a concert DVD. Even then the majority of the time I find DD sounds better. On a number of my concert DVDs the DTS tracks just sound dull.
