Man, do I have a talent. Not only can I make kidney stones, the only ones I make are too big to pass!

My first one (1999) was 11 cm long. Pulverized by lithotripsy.

My second one (2006) is even larger and called a "staghorn" because it's shaped like deer antlers. I'm due for lithotripsy on Friday.

Right now the drugs ain't working and my life sucks........

What is it mainly composed of? Are there certain foods you should be avoiding?

Dunno. I know when he pulled the stent (sp?) out of me last time it was pretty calcified. I will push for whatever testing they can do to find me that answer.

I was told that once you get a kidney stone you WILL get others. A 10% chance a year to get another one. Cumulative. I figure I dodged it for 7 years, but would have preferred 100.

    Lame. That sucks.

The stones are mainly made of calcium.

Are you asian by any chance, scotty?

    Thanks.

When I started this thread around midnight, I was on the tail end of 3 vicodin. I've been able to add a couple more and the pain is finally fading and I'm getting sleepy. Hopefully, this will be the last time the monster stirs until I go under the stone smasher.

When I get a stone, I just punch myself in the midsection until I cry.

On the cause of the stones...

Calcium rich foods/ supplements to be sure, but an co-worker who suffered them repeatedly told me that sodas (Coke, DR. P, etc.) were a big contributor...

Yep...my friends who have had them were big soda drinkers. It's also important to drink good ole H2O regularly for prevention.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Today I'm feelin' much better, though I'm looking forward to Friday when they break that puppy up.

I guess I need to lay off the sodas......
