Outlaw Audio has Discontinued the ICBM

I was thinking about adding one of these to my setup. Looks like I'll need to look for something used. Seems kind of weird that his was discontinued. From what I've read it was a great product and the price was low.

That is weird... maybe they're putting out a new model. Or maybe there just wasn't enough of a market. Glad I got one when I did.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Probably discontinued for lack of sales as the product was designed and marketed to provide bass management for six channel analog high resolution sources like DVD-A and SACD, but most of those source components have had bass management plus distance compensation capabilities built in for the last couple of years now. It was a great idea for its time though.

I bought one a while back when my (old Kilpsch) pre/pro had nothing for bass management. I now have the Outlaw 950 but still use the ICBM. It just looks too cool in the rack to take out.If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
I've been using mine to screw around building subwoofers- nothing beats having a bigass knob to twist instead of digging around in some submenu of the receiver.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Cool and effective if you could afford an extra whole set of 5.1 cables! The extra cabling set ya back almost as much as the ICBM.:DHT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

I'm keeping mine for the distant future. never know when you need a good sub crossover for a project. you can use this in 2 channel too if so inclined. Its a great unit, and doesnt alter the sound in the chain at all from my ears standpoint.
I kind of knew the market for it would dry up and it would be discontinued. Had to see it comin. Glad I got one.
I originally bought mine for the same reason Ron-p did, bass management for the Klipsch Promedia pre/pro. it was a good combo and served me well until I got the Outlaw 950. I use the bass management in the 950 and removed the ICBM from the theater.Living Room 2 Channel -

Hey ohskigod,
Does the Outlaw 950 include Bass Management if your using the analog inputs? It was my understanding that very few pre/pre out there actually applied bass management to the analog inputs. Is this one of them?Proud SOPA Member since 2005! -
I agree that the demise of DVD-A and SACD led to the discontinuation of this product. Everyone that wanted one already had one....well nearly everyone.Proud SOPA Member since 2005!

you mean for the sacd analogue inputs? is has a cross of 80 hz only, engages by a switch in the back of the unit. if I ever use them and find the 80 hz crossover to be innefective, out will come the icbmLiving Room 2 Channel -

I am going to hook mine up between the pre/pro and the amp.
I haven't gotten around to it yet but when I get behind the rack again I am hooking it up to see how it sounds this way.Skynut

Yeah, mine usually goes between the processor & the amp- but it's mostly two channel when I'm doing that. However, it's key for the old quad SQ processor & LP's.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19
