I have been seriously eyeing THIS car for a while and I was wondering if anyone here has it? If so , do you like/recommend it? They really play up the sound system but we all know how that can go (BOSE:eek: ).

My wife is getting ready to trade for a sedan and this car was on her short list...She went and looked one and quickly decided it would be too small for our needs.

Because of that reason she did'nt give it a test drive...Other than that,it sure is an eye catcher and of course,it is a Lexas...

I saw the car up close, looks fantastic. its a lexus, so, like toyota, reliability is NOT an issue. Dont let the Bose set you off, there car systems are pretty good from what I heard, so dont let the bose thing convince or disway you.

    that's not a IS-300.

    it's the newer model IS250/350.

The is300 imo sucks. It's small, way underpowered, fit and finish are not Lexus-quality, and worst of all- it's a car that has been accepted only by the rice-rocket market.

The new ones imo are perfect. If the one you're looking to purchase is the one in the link you provided, hell yeah go for it.

And btw, Lexus doesn't deal in Bose. Good for them. They're premium sound systems are Mark Levinsons. And they're worth the extra cash.

yeah mark levinson. which is fantastic!

I love the new lexus IS line. It's a small sporty luxory sedan. If you want bigger and to maintain the nice amenites plus the sporty/power go for the new GS. huge price difference though

I don't think you'll be disappointed in this car.

i don't think the gs300 is worth it. Huge price increase- like SChris said, and the 3.0 v-6 is inferior with 245hp vs. the 3.5 in the is350 at 306hp.

If you were to step up in size, I would look at the Infiniti G35 or the new INfiniti M35. That's a hot car.

My mom had a Bose stereo in her Mercedes C230 Kompressor. It sounded fine. Nicer then a stock system certainly. Nothing to complain about really unless you are huge into car stereo stuff. But in that case you'd probably be replacing the stock stereo no matter what.

I went buy the showroom and checked it out. I was not really digging the interior. I did not have time to test drive it yet though. The sales guy told me that the Levinson system was only available with the navigation system which makes it pretty pricey.

The new IS is a wonderful car. And actually I have spent extended time in the previous IS300s and really enjoyed them as well.

As noted above the Lexus Levinson audio systems are very good. I am quite satisfied with the system in my GS430. My friends are consistently blown away by how good it sounds. If I'm not mistaken the standard system in the new IS is by Pioneer. Still respectable but does not come close to the premium system.

If you like this class of car, but aren't thrilled with the interior of the Lexus I would recommend checking out the current BMW 3-Series. You can get into a BMW 325 with premium audio (Harman Kardon) with out Navigation for about the same price. The BMW is a more athletic car and the premium sound system is excellent.

The Infinity G35 is a good car too. But personally I can't stand the styling inside and out of the sedan model. Also their audio system is by Bose, and sounds like crap compared to the Lexus and Bimmer.

    Just my opinions.

    Have fun shopping!;)

Ok thanks. I think I will check out some other models. I was just not moved by the Lexus enough yesterday to trade in my trusty Trailblazer.

A friend of mine hated it. Traded a BMW for one...ended up going back to BMW.

Is it true that BMW's have to serviced at a Bimmer Dealership? Even just an oil change?

My wife would love to have a 5-Series,but we live about 90 minutes from the only dealer that's even close.

I don't think it matters for oil changes, but BMW's have all scheduled maintenance included in the price of the car up to 50k I believe......

Brett is right. All scheduled maintenance is covered during the 50k warranty period. Keep in mind most BMWs "scheduled" oil change interval is 15k miles. I personally opted to change oil more often and therefore had to pay out of pocket for the extra changes.

Also you might check with BMW for other authorized service centers in your area. Here in B.F.E. Iowa we have a couple shops other than the dealer that can do the maintenance. So I would say there is a pretty good chance there is a shop closer to you than the dealer.
