Old Adcom seperates vs new Cabridge integrated?

Given the choice, would you rather have an old set of Adcom seperates that still work fine, a GFP-565 pre-amp and GFA-535L power amp combination, or a new Cambridge Audio Azur 640A intergrated?

    I'm not sure there would be a big difference in SQ but that integrated looks pretty versatile. If I already had the Adcoms I don't think I'd fork out $550 for the Cambridge, but if someone was going to give me either one I wanted I guess I might take the integrated.

    New is nice. Proven has it's merits too. Cambridge has developed a tempting line at an attractive price, but I suppose it would come down to what you were driving.

    Ahh, but I'll bet that if it were a Jolida JD 1701A instead of the CA Azur 640A, you would have a different answer then!:cool:

    I used to have the 565- pretty good phono stage and not bad over all. Very solid state sound, though. Actually that pre would be overkill for the 535- you probably pay more for it.

    The two will certainly have a slightly different sound. The best way to decide is to try and audition both. The 535 is a very nice amp, lots of grunt. But the Cambridge will have that decidedly British sound. Either would be an excellent choice. Good luck with your purchase.

    EDIT: My choice would be for the Cambridge....simply because I've owned a few Adcoms and I'd like to try something different.
