I got the Harmony 880 friom Amazon.com for $ 158.00 plus shipping. It is very easy to use and even my wife can use it so it is worth its weight in gold. I have not gotten a phone call from her since I bought it.

The only thing I don't like is the buttons are small and not soft like most remotes.
I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

Yes, I too think they could improve the buttons by having a better feel on them. Most remotes have indentions, shapes, etc that key you into what button your finger is currently on. I do not like the fact that I have to look down at the remote to find the button I want. Hopefully as I get more use to it, this will become intuitive.

Some of the nice things about this remote is that I can remove commands that I do not deem necessary. For instance a lot of the DSP stuff, night listening, tone controls, and 12volt trigger options I have on my receiver, I never and will never use. It is nice to eliminate them from the remote so that there are no chance of goofing up and utilizing them accidently (i.e. Company Gone Wild!).

The worst thing about this remote is that there are so many cool things you can do to customize it. Geeks like me end up spending all our time placing things like dolphin slide-shows on it so that it looks cool while charging. LOL!

    MillerLiteScott,
Man can I relate with the wife and phone calls;) My wife still has trouble going from DVD to TV etc.

Can you have the Harmony 880 do things like turn on multiple things at one time? I play with the subwoofer settings through my receiver on music sometimes when switching from older to newer cd's.Can you set the remote to accomplish this?
I see that you program it through the PC and use model numbers from products. Is there a list of products it supports some place?
My wife could stop taking xanax before watching TV if I could make it easyer on her:D .

    Thanks

The Harmony remotes work off of macros, so yes you could turn more than one item on at a time. It is also nice, because it turns everything off at one time as well.

As far as programmable features, you can program almost any button to control a certain function. There is page where you can change the functions on the remote's screen, as well as the individual buttons themselves. If that particular function is not available by default, then you can utilize them as "learning" remotes, and specify which button you want it assoiated with.

The new Harmony 1000 is a glorified version of the 890. It relies heavily on touch screen associations, instead of hard buttons. I find that many of my customers like the feel of hard buttons better, since they don't have to hold it with two hands, and they can "feel" their way around the remote in the dark.

Overall, the Harmony remotes are very wife friendly. The MX series remotes are very nice too, but they aren't as easy to program if you are just dealing with one remote.

I have a Pronto 3000 and although it works goodit is a real pain in the a** to program. The touch screen gets on my nerves too. I may sell it and get something new.
