Hey guys out there, you have helped me before but I think I need your guys help again. Tax time is upon us and the good old return means that I get to upgrade the old HT system one more time.
Right now my system is a 7.1 System composed of 4 FXi-3s in both bi-pole and Di-pole mode (depending on location), a CSi-5 Center Channel, 2 very old Yamaha Front Channel speakers and a very old Sony 10" Down firing sub. This is all being powered by a Denon 3805 reciever. Hopefully soon I will be picking up 3 Outlaw audio 2200 M-block amps to power the front end of things.
What I want to upgrade right now is the front speakers, I have been noticing how lacking the Yamahas seem to be as compared to the other 5 Polk speakers in teh system. I have been holding off and trying to save up for a brand new set of RTi-10 speakers that are praised so highly here and on other forums. Money is always an issue, and at the rate I am going I dont know when I will have that extra grand to put down on the speakers. The wait is killing me so I was thinking about maybe getting another brand.
I have an opportunity hower to get a set of Boston Acoustics VR3 speakers for a pretty steep discount, and I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with these speakers and how they might compare to the RTi-10s. I am looking at what spekaers I might be able to get from the Magnolia Store through Best Buy and the Boston Acoustics have been recommended in teh past.
As always, any input from you guys is greatly appreciated. Thanks

buy the Rti8's and save the rest for a good-great sub.

Ditto, the 10's dont really do anything the 8's cant. I agree to go with the 8's now and then make the sub the next project to fill out the bottom end. Having identical paired 6.5" drivers in the 8's and CSi5 makes for a really seamless front stage.-Stopher

Well, I was actually thinking about picking up the HSU VTF-3 MKII Sub one of these days......so that being said given what I already have for the system I have setup, the RTi-8 seems to be the speakers of choice......I have auditioned both speakers a few months ago and honestly I could not really tell much of a difference between the two. Part of that was probably due to setup and lack of good test material.
Has anyone used the outlaw Monoblocks yet, are they pretty easy to use? -

Don't compromise. If you want the RTi10's or the 8's keeping saving until you can afford them. You'll always wonder what if, if you go with the Boston Acoustics. You'll just be upgrading again later.Proud SOPA Member since 2005!

I'm in the RTi10 camp for HT. Yeah, don't compromise. The 10's will give you more of everything the 8's can offer, especially if you're gonna use Outlaw monoblocks and run them on LARGE. I've used Outlaw monos and they're great. To save money, consider buying the 10's used.
Great choice for a sub, by the way.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

If you have the bucks (most important part !!! ) go with RTi 10 instead 8. Sounds better...loudest and more clean. Try to listen both and listen the differences. ByeMy current new system (step by step )
