Has anyone buy anything from Ebay, AcousticSoundDesign 888.224.3663?
It has good price for LSI center speaker at $385. I'm wondering about the 5 year warranty from Polk. Any thought or suggestion would be appreciated.
Ths,
Jtran

That is the best price I have ever seen! I wouldn't even sell my used one that low.

I've seen their stuff for sale on ebay for some time and wondered if it was legit also. They have an excellent rating and I've also seen them selling LSiFX speakers for $650, which is also a great deal. If you get the LSiC, let us know how it goes. I'm curious....

I bought my LSi9 from them and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Very solid seller, talked to Mike Embers (owner) a few times. They ship the speaker in a double box with ALOT of peanuts.... no way UPS can damage them unless they run it over with their Semi.

I see the same seller has posted a pair of LSiFX's for $679. Man, if I could just be sure this was on the up and up, I would get it.

Joey V: was the serial number still on the back of the speaker you bought from this seller??

Okiepokie, you're right about the fact warranty.

Here's a quote from Polk Audio, "Hello,
I checked with the folks in the sales department and they are not
    listed
as an authorized Polk dealer. This would mean they would not have any
    factory warranty.
You may use the dealer locator feature of our web site:
www.polkaudio.com to find a complete listing of authorized dealers.
    Regards, Ken, Polk Audio"

Ebay-vendors has 90 days warranty for this item .... still very tempting.
How can they sell it for $385 vs. everyone else at $599?

I looked throught this sellers feedback, and 6 different folks who bought the LSiC and FX's were very positive regarding the whole transaction and quality of the product. Sounds pretty good!

Never bought from them, but have read good reviews about them on the net. They usually sell the Lsi9's for like $649 + shipping or $699 w/shipping. I've been tempeted a few times. The no warranty thing doesn't bother me as long as the speakers aren't damaged during shipping.

That's correct. I bought my LSiC from them - no serial number sticker on the back, but it works perfectly and was in perfect condition.

Acoustic sound design is a good, fair ebay seller. You will get very good product and very good pricing... the only drawback is the seriel numbers are scratched off, so you will not have warranty coverage. I wouldn't be concerned about it, becuase Mike is a good seller. It's worth it....

Sounds a bit fishy that the serials are scratched off-I mean, really, why would they need to do that? Still, speakers are not likely do go bad like some other units.

Simple version, authorized dealers get better prices on large quantities of merchandise, so they buy more than they can sell, and re-sell the exess to unauthorized dealers. This way both dealers get a better price than they normaly could.

The serial numbers are removed, so that the manufacturer can not trace the unauthorized merchandise back to the original dealer.

I just ordered my LSi9s from them - $659 before shipping. I'll let you know how it goes. I went ahead and ordered from them because in many reviews I read, the place of purchase was from these guys and the owners had no complaints.

Why would it matter if the serial numbers were left on?
Could they be an Polk look-a-like?

I've checked out http://garrett-smarthome.com/, although they're not authorized dealer but their distributor will carry Polk warranty. LSI9 $388 each, and LSI9C center $450. Both are a bit more than AcousticSoundDesign.

Here's a quote from my email, "The Polk is purchased from an authorized distributor here. The warranty does not come from us, it's the Polk warranty. You would return the item here for replacement if defective.
    Jeff"

Does any know if Mike Embers can offer the same Polk warranty through his distributor? Maybe a little gentle persuasion will do the trick...?

Have you discuss with Mike to see if he can offer the Polk warranty through his authorized dealer? Just curious.

The serial numbers are removed, I don't see how he could offer any warranty.

I think you are worried too much about the warranty, if they are damaged when you recieve them, he will take care of it. If they break later, you have saved more than enough to cover the cost of a replacement driver or two, or even three.

Yep, I do worry because the deal sounds too good to be true but now probably worth the risk. Since everyone here who had made the purchase are quite satisfied, so I feel a lot more comfortable placing an order.

Hello all....just got my new LSiC and LSiFX speakers from AcousticSoundDesign today. Total was $1229 delivered in 2 days to Alaska! I have taken them out and they look like they are in perfect condition. Now, I'm off to buy speaker cables and the big test, seeing how they sound, begins. I'm really suprised they got up here so fast. I pretty much saved about $800 to $900 on this deal once you add in shipping. I'm very excited! LSi rules!!!!

just buy the speakers.......they've been around for a while, and Polk will not be servicing them should they break.

If ASD offers any sort of warranty, it's going to be in-house, so just make sure you ask all the questions you have before you place the order.

I bought a pair of LSI/FX's from ASD. UPS tried to beat the pi#s out of them but they work great anyway. "Authorized" dealers are taking advantage of folks. 300 or 400 dollars for a warranty? Give me a break. OneCall.com even has an "extended warranty" you can buy. What a laugh.

Just got my LSi9s from ASD and they are in perfect condition. Outside box was practically destroyed, but they were well packed and the inside box wasn't even scuffed. No serial #, but if I thought they were that shabby I wouldn't have bought them in the first place.
