I'm meeting with him friday. Do you think its a fair price? And what do these things sound like? My only other Polk product at the moment is little R15's.

The last two auctions I remember went for 100 and 150 usd so I suppose the price is average. To put things in perspective, I paid 100cdn for my monitor 7b's....
I've never listened to the 5's but if they're anything like the 7's you should like them a lot better than the r15's.

I surely hope so. I know it isn't exactly a steal, but I've just been looking to get into the higher end polk stuff without breaking the bank too much.

Do you know what series 2 means? I did a bit of research and found that there were a few variations of Monitor 5's and some had SL2000 tweeters while others had different ones. Thank you so much for the input!

Well i bought 'em and they sound absolutely awesome!!! Really awesome guy to deal with and he even threw in an old Sansui turntable for free.

God I love these things. What a lot of bass for such small speakers.

Yep, just a tad lesser in sound to the 7's. The 5b's were my first Polk product many many years ago. Amazing little speaker. Enjoy them they are one of the "classics", IMO.
