Hey guys

Is there anyway to get 2 channel sound converted to 5.1 surround sound? Or do most of the people with 2 channel systems have them for listening to music?

If you have 2 channel or 2.1 with a sub. LISTEN MUSIC (Obviously, the quality depends on yor speakers and your receiver-pre/amp) :)

    DVD Player: YAMAHA DVD-S657

Most receivers can take a 2 channel signal and convert into its own contorted 5/6/7.1 version, but I like listening to stuff the way it was created. If it's only two channels it sounds best to me through two speakers, whereas if it's recorded in 5.1 that's how I like to listen to it.

That said, I ditched my 5.1 setup a while ago and have since then been focusing on a two channel (with sub) system since I mostly listen to music anyways.

Do you think that my HK AVR 7300 can try and convert the audio to 5/6/7.1??? I didn't see it in the manual when I skimmed through it?

It should be able to but, as many would agree, it'll probably sound like crap compared to just listening to the source the way it was intended to be listened to.(in actual two channel if it's a stereo recording etc.)

2-channel forever. I'll go surround as soon as I grow 3 more ears.

I wouldn't mind surround with music if it were mixed properly. Everyone seems to go for the wow factor when they mix surround. Very sad...

How about a taste of both worlds??

I'm a dedicated 2 channel guy BUT, I crossed over  and picked up some cheap HT stuff for movies ONLY!!
See the sig file. Not much money spent on this new stuff and it isn't bad. Definitely better than the TV speakers and my 2 channel stays in tact.
Open up your mind a bit and allow yourself to enjoy both worlds.

Also, this stuff can be sooooo small you hardly know it's even in your room. Well, sorta.
It is a bit of a blasphemy but, so were CD's not too long ago.
