Key Hole Slot vs. Btech B77 Wall Mounts For Cherry RTi4

Hi All,

I need some feedback from the forum on which is their preferred wall mounting option for a pair Rti4 speakers in terms of safety.

In my opinion, The Btech B77 Wall Mount is far superior than the use a screw with a key hole slot. It appears to me that in the screw with a key hole slot option the screw could get loose from the wall due to constant speaker vibration.
Has anyone experienced a speaker falling from the wall while utilizing the screw with key hole slot?

Your positive & negative experiences from these wall mounting options are welcomed.

This forum & audioholics.com has been a lifesaver :D throughout the process of purchasing A/V components for a first timer.

Thanks again,

John

Ive hanged a RT35i on the wall with a sheatrock anchor + screw - it held up there for over a year with a SVS pounding in the other corner....

The only problem with it is you cant angle your speakers the way you want, etc...

The BT77 is the way to go. I never liked the sound of my RT25i when they were keyhole mounted (and I was using them as mains). This was not only due to the lack of ability to angle the speaker properly, and also the bass response was funny.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I used a screw on my Rti6's and Rti4's with no problems at all. The speakers are designed so that they can be hung on the wall.

Try the screw first 'cause it's free. If it isn't satisfactory, then spring for the wall mounts.

I hung my LSi7's from the keyhole slot for awhile and while I don't think they would have fallen, the bass response from them was not as crisp as it was with the btech stands. (plus since they were rear speakers, I wanted to angle them)

I would purchase the b-tech and plan to return them if they don't do what you want them to. Only thing I will say is that they don't tilt very much but that was ok for my application.

I started with my RTi4's mounted with the keyholes until my B-Tech's arrived. Somtimes you just can't wait when a new toy arrives. :)

I feel that the B-Tech's enhanced the performance of the speakers in two ways. First, because you can direct the sound to the listening area and secondly, it brings the speaker away from the wall for better bass response. I think they sound much better (more alive if you would) mounted on the B-Tech's.

I posted pictures of my RTi4 installation in your other post (http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showpost.php?p=423986&postcount=2).

Any links to the B-Tech's? I am thinking about using RTi6's for rear surrounds and need to decide between wall mounts or stands.
