Bi-amped DC2's

In a round about way, I finally got a chance to do a bi-amp set-up. :p

My trusty Parasound 2200II was going to the shop for loose relay fixing. I would be left with the 1200IIs but I knew they wouldn't sound so great in bi-wire set-up. The DC2's sounded a little hollow running on the 1200II. :(

So I thought of Bi-amping using 2 x 1200II and got an extra pair of XLO ultra 6. I set the Marantz to 'Multi-channel' stereo so it would replicate the fronts with the rears. So both 1200II will get matching signals.

Took a few minutes shoe horning those heavy gauge ultra's into the DC2's. Double checked the connections then tried it out.

At first I thought 'cool', no hollow sound. I noticed a distinct tightness in detail and imaging. Then got to an Allan Taylor piece 'Color to the Moon'. Then, I heard something I only heard before from a subwoofer. A detailed bass that was only hinted before with the 2200II.

Wow! I'm now a believer in the benefits of bi-amping. A pair of bi-amped Parasound 1200II's trumps a single bi-wired Parasound 2200II. :D

Well, that's my experience with bi-amping.
