Hey guys, I bought my RTi10's about 5 days ago ans connected them to my HK 7300. I remember a bunch of you guys saying that is has really good bass. I set the crossover point on the RTi10's at 40Hz, but I still don't get that much bass. They are about a foot and a half away from the rear wall. My friend has an 8 inch quest sub with a 110wat amp that has alot more bass then the 7.5 speakers on the RTi10's. Is this normal? or did I not connect/calibrate something correctly? THanks

Check to make sure you connected them correctly. If you've reversed the polarity on them (gone from positive on the amp to negative terminal on back) it'll mess things up some. Can't remember if they are, but if they have two sets of binding posts per speaker and you're using a single run of wire or a single amp make sure the gold jumpers are in place.

prob. normal. They won't put out the bass of even a decent sub. Not designed for that- their woofs are passive.

RTi10's are not meant to have tons of bass? If you want bass, you definetly need a good subwoofer. IMO, I'd rather have the RTi8's and a good sub anyday over the RTi10's.

Yeah I set them to large. What are gold jumpers? maybe that is a really stupid question lol.

Personally, I like the 10's a lot better than the 8's, sub or no sub. However, I would never run the 10's alone w/o a sub for music. They just don't go low enough. They do have a great deal of bass for the size, though. With good amplification, they perform well. If you were in a studio apartment, they'd be plenty. But in a house, you need a sub man.
That said, there are a lot of other speakers out there that get as much if not more bass from drivers of similar size. The Vienna Acoustic Beethoven Baby Grands get more bass from two 6" drivers and one port than Polk's 2 7" drivers and their dual sided "power port." However, there's also a difference of about $2500 between them as well, so it had better result in something.

Thanks, I actually purchased a HSU VFT-3 MK2 today. It is amazing! This thing goes so low with no distortion of anything. It really brought my HT system alive.

Gold jumpers are the thin little metal plate thingies that connect the top binding posts to the lower binding posts. They should be a shiny brassy / gold colour. Some replace them with wire but it doesn't really matter as long as you have something there.
