Centre ch. decisions.
I would like to know how many people have used a centre then opted to go phatom and what the results where.
Is there anyone out there using a 4.1 system fronts and rears only ? how do you find you set up for HT.
We are having a very hard time find a tv stand which will accomodate all my gear and a centre ch on the stand.
I have :
xbox
marantz dvd
Oppo on the way
HK 335
HD cable box
I can't seem to fit all of this on a stand without it looking stuffed. So I am thinking of ditching the centre Ch. would this be a big error or should I just keep looking ?
Thanks

i think the center channel is important to listen dialogues and effects like explotions or something.
Maybe, is most important got fronts and rears...but...in the future you must bought a central. CS2 ??? i listen and it's great. (with low bucks..obviously)
Bye Willow !!!! (this time...i don't insulting your systems !! haha )My current new system (step by step )
A/V Receiver: YAMAHA RX-V657
DVD Player: YAMAHA DVD-S657
Main Towers: polkaudio® Monitor 50
Wiring: NeoTecH KS1007 OFC High Definition Speaker Cable ( 2 x 2.64 mm² ) -
4.0/1/whatever works great for music and SACD.
for movies, try it. If you don't like it, buy a center. -
I already have my 8s,3 and 4s. I was just looking for opinions on running without the 3.I don't do SACD and reg music is in 2ch.

Out of necessity I am currently running a 4.0 sys with Lsi9 mains and rears. I am still trying to figure out the positioning of the center because the area behind the plasma is glass (window). So, I'm running a phantom front stage and it sounds centered enough that I don't really spend much time figuring out how I'll mount a center. The solution here would be to toe in liberally and limit the spacing between the mains. This gives you a smaller soundstage for 2ch, but you can find some compromise. My 9's are 18" left and right of the plasma for a total of about 7 ft. This may not be optimal for imaging instuments, but it's quite functional in HT. The test tone pan sweeps sound like a 5.1 when it goes from LF to LF and RF equally. It's workable, but I will cable mount/hang a center at some point.-Ignorance is strength -
