I know this is not the ideal place for this question, but I know alot of you have vintage equipment beyond speakers.

I have inherited a vintage Lin Sondek turntable I am dying to hook up and listen to on my vintage 7b's. The problem is that my Onkyo A\V reciever has no phono inputs or ground. How can I hook this up properly?
Can I hook the ground to a screw on the chasis and use cd input?

You need a phono preamp. The signal is too low for the inputs on your receiver.

    You need something LIKE THIS

    NAD PP-2

You could also look for an old 7020 receiver, or 3020 int amp from NAD. Should be able to pick one up for less than a $100

Thanks all for your input. I hope that 330c works well. I'll just loop from phono in to tape out then to tape in on my Onkyo

As Russ says it will work, but the Linn is a nicer table (assuming it's in good cond. w/a good cartridge) than that GE phono-amp. Parasound makes a nice unit you can get fairly cheap P/PH-100 here's a link. It appears the P/Ph-100 is sold but he has another Parasound f/s also. This will do a much better job than the GE, it's up to you how far you want to go. The GE will not do the Linn justice, IMO

I'm not getting the GE, your right, only as good as your weakest link. I'll just try to loop it thru my HK reciever and see if that would work.

That is a NICE table (hint, if you ever care to part with it, I'd have more than a passing interest)......the NAD is a nice phono pre, there is a new tube phono pre going for peanuts, belari, or some such that is getting a LOT of good press.

My Father had this Lin Sondek hooked to (I forget the model) 1970's Infinity pre amp and 200w\2ch Hafler amp, to his stacked Monitor 7a's. The Infinity preamp had a metal case with a blue face, blue lights and big silver knobs (if anyone could help me remember the model). It also has a matching amp. The amp's power supply went out so he hooked the Hafler amp in its place. One of the best sounding system I've ever heard. Everything was kept in mint condition and I believe I have a working cartrige on the table itself and a replacement cartridge in a box also.

Now I know the "I" word is a bad word here, but thiese 2 pieces with the Linn Sondek table and the stacked 7a's, were truely unbelievable.

I would recommend getting our members's Madmax Jolida 9a he has for sale in the Flea Market.

I would bump the thread but not sure if I can anymore. Anwyay as BDT mentioned the Belarri or the Jolida, the Bellari costs a bit less but does not have quite the build quality of the Jolida and since their name is not as established and so on.

The Jolida is a solid unit and going to be with you for a while.
