Picked up this cd today. I already own all of her albums throughout the past 15 years or so going back to her 10,000 Maniacs days. Probably my favorite female vocalist for a long time. I don't know what it is but her voice is very unique and distinctly her's. This new cd includes remastered recordings off of Tigerlily, Motherland, Ophelia, and The House Carpenter's Daughter.

An incredible compilation of songs and musical instruments. Sure I like my Zeppelin, Floyd, etc. but this cd is why I love listening to music and why I really enjoy my audio system. Piano, cello, percussion, drums, acoustic and electric guitar, violin, trumpet (with Chris Botti playing trumpet on "Break Your Heart"), saxophone, etc. In other words this album will put your system to the test. Perfect material for my Spendors and her voicing.

Her albums, especially Tigerlily have always been a reference for me. Well recording and great sounding. This new album is just as good and puts her best songs all in one.

Highly recommended if you're into this type of music. Its a nice change of pace.

I;ll have to pick this one up. As a long time 10,000 Maniac's fan I agree her voice is unique. I'm not certain why I haven't followed her solo career too closely.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. I'll bag it tomorrow. What's the label / catalog no.?

"Carnival" off Tigerlily has been one of my demo tracks for years.

    Cheers,

    Russ,
I'm embarrassed to say this on a public forum but here goes.... I don't know what the heck a catalog no. is. Never used one or took notice and I own hundreds of cds.

I just went to Best Buy and bought it off the shelf. Impulse purchase just browsing around; didn't even know the album existed. There is a deluxe edition with a second cd but I didn't figure that out until I got home and saw the website inside the cd cover.

Yep. Carnival is one of the songs on the cd.

Just the recording label, and the 5-10 digit number on the spine - that's all.
