... and it's a whopper!

Supposed to get a foot or more of snow tonight in the New England area. Blizzard warnings throughout the night, they're saying several inches per HOUR after midnight. Should be starting up soon.

Got several movies lined up for a lazy snowy Sunday :)
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Hope all goes well. I remember living in Gaspe Quebec in the mid 90's and receiving 77cm & then 54cm, all in 3 days. That equates to 51.5747 inches. Happy watching.

I'm sure all of that is nothing compared to what you get up there in the Northern Territories now, but thanks for the well wishes. :)

Very little snow in the territories. You get more in Mass than we get here. It doesn't when it's -40 or below. Hope you own a blower.

Went to visit my parents this weekend, who live about 45 miles SE of Lake Erie. It's crazy the effect the lake has on the weather. My parents got about 4 inches of snow last night. When I was leaving to come back home, after traveling MAYBE 10 miles SW there was barely any snow at all.

I hated growing up with the Lake Erie effect. Most overcast and days of rain in the US; yes, even more than Seattle!

It was in the low 80's here today. I dont know how you people can live in that kind of weather. To see snow here I have to take a trip.

C'mon admit it.... you loved "snow days" growing up...

I grew up in the south 'burbs of Cleveland, just west of the "Lake Effect" area. We'd get 12" and Painesville'd get 24".

But you could have had it worse... You could have lived in Buffalo... they'd get 36".

We got 15" here. Was pretty cool. All the neighbors gathered up and drank beer while the dogs played in the yard and the kids went sledding. Excellent day.

    Bit sore from shoveling though...

For all those who are complaining, my wife's hometown had one storm last year dump 15' (feet) of snow over 4 days. Now that's a snow storm!

Ugh, my poor back. I wouldn't even mind snow if it weren't for the shovelling (especially now that I have 4WD).

I got over 20" by my house. I love the snow, especialy from a big storm. Took awhile to shovel, so not much time to play. I just hope it stays awhile so I can build my sled run down the side of my house. (I try to do it every year. It's probably over 200' to the bottom, where I have to build a large banked turn or you end up in the river. Tons of fun especially after a six pack or two. We do it on snow tubes [they really fly]).

Cambridge, MA, got something like 14" to 16" of fluffy powder snow. Locals who have lived here for a while were saying things like, "Meh? There's a little snow out there. Siddown and watch the Olympics." Local news stations were reporting "OH NOES! IT'S THE SNOWPOCALYPSE!!!!1!!11!!!" despite the fact that last year's big storm was quite a bit bigger in both forecast and results, dumping 26" on Boston Common and 38" on Salem, MA.

Since about 1990, any time more than about 6" of snow is forecast (from 1978 until then it took at least 14" of predicted major storm), the local TV news programs go into full-assault hurricane-force snowstorm mode, with reporters in six locations around the Boston area checking in every twenty minutes (every 10 if they're along the shoreline), interviews with politicians, plow drivers, each other, whatever.
