Bikes - Any and All

I loved Hoosier21's post of that **** bike - very cool - almost chubbed me out......
I've got a candy apple '92 Sportster 1200 with tons of engine mods - it's a pretty hairy beast - loud, cammy, high compression (doubles as a leave blower), front wheel bounces at the lights - like riding a paint mixer! It's perfect for terrorizing residents around town.
The fastest bike I ever rode was a modified '85 V-Max with a boner-fide 145 rear wheel horsepower. The front tire came off the ground in the first three gears - what a friggin' rush.
I wanna try a GSX1300R and see what 9's feel like again.....
Anybody else got any cool bikes - stock or modified?
Also, I spotted a Mustang project floating around - my buddy is building a dragster based on an '85 GT. He is hoping for 10's in the quarter - I can post some details if there is interest.

my dad's got a '93 FLSTF Fat Boy with all kinds of mods. i don't know half of them. the ones that i do know about are a screaming eagle mod kit, a blower looking thing instead of the usual "Harley-Davidson 88 cubic inches" carburetor--it looks like what you'd see sticking out of the top of the hood of a muscle car--and the loudest damn pipes i've ever heard (Vance and Hines). I've heard alot of different bikes too. I've been to the Sturgis, SD rally with him and his was the loudest I heard the entire time."I got into the music business thinking it was really radical, that it wasn't really a business at all, that it was a lot of people being artistic and creative. Not true, and it made me very depressed."

I have a 1980 Harley FXB Sturgis. Stock engine. Different pipes, bars, seat, air cleaner, & a few other goodies. Like all good hobbies it seems you can just keep on spending, and spending.......
Due to some physical problems I have not been on it for a few years. Plan on maybe sometime this year if I get clearence and feel able.

Spinal problems? I had a fusion in 1997 with hardware. I need another one this winter. Trying to last until hunting season is over. I don't ride as much as I used to either.........getting old's a ****.

Dr. Spec.
Yes spinal problems. Have had 3 operations. The last was to remove the hardware and check the fusion. When I was coming out of the surgery sleep, the first thing I said to my wife was " no more back surgeries!" So far I have stood by that statement. Damn winter is a long way off. Hope you can wait till then for your next operation, if that is what you want to do. You are right, it does seem to suck getting old. However it beats the alternative.
Now back to bikes. These outlaw bikers with their barbie big wheels and tricycles are starting to scare me just a little bit. Maybe if we just treat them nice they won't go on some crazed three wheel rampage. As I posted on your gun thread, I do have some weapons. However, I am not sure if I have enough fire power to fight off a gang of evil, drunken barbie big wheelers!
Good topics you have started. Think up some more.

That would be my project mustang. Yep, it's still rolling along, only the parts list keeps growing weekly. Just recieved my Ford Racing aluminum radiator today. Last week was 155lph fuel pump and timing chain w/sprockets. Next up is the new E303 cam. Oh yeah, this is in addition to list I posted a few weeks back. Too much to type right now. Pretty much new suspension, intakes, heads, injectors, mass air and full exhaust.

Trek Fuel 100.
Work in a trauma center and have seen what bikes can do when they meet a car. Not a pretty site. The ICU I work in has twelve beds. In 1995 11 of the 12 were filled with motorcycle accidents. And none of them were their fault. That kind of swore me off getting a motorcycle. I know mountain bikes can produce the same results. But at least you can get on some trails and avoid the idiots that get behind the wheel.
But I always envy people that ride. I just can't do it though. Family is just too important. -

have you ever been to the MTB festival at Jim Thorpe in June??
It ROCKS!
jeff -
No, I've never been to the Jim Thorpe MTB Weekend. I've heard it's pretty kick-****. Jim Thorpe is only 45 minutes from where I go to school. I took a group of students there for a Cycling Club-sponsored trip in April. As close as it is, I've only been there four times. We have some incredible trails on our campus, actually, so I don't have to go far for the good stuff.

Well my Trek is way under its head here in Iowa. I need to take it to The Black Hills or to Colorado and get some "Real" use out of it.
Also glad to see other bikers here. I have not biked this spring yet. I have been sick for 2 months, just finally had surgery, and now recovering for another month. Hopefully the first of June I can get back in the saddle.:) -
Yep, spinal fusions suck. It took me months to recover from my first one - felt like I got hit by a truck when I woke up. It's one of the primary reasons I don't ride as much - I invested so much of my life into the operation and recovery, that I didn't want to just piss it away wrecking the bike.
I don't work in ER, but I know of SO many motorcycle accidents where guys end up in wheel chairs and their dicks don't work - I'd rather be dead - honestly. I've arranged for my buds to step on my airhose if I ever wreck and get paralyzed. I'm getting older and definitely have a sense of my own mortality I never felt 15 years ago. And with a woman, two kids, a house, a mortgage - I've got so much more to live for than in my reckless days of youth. Still.......every time I fire up that hairy beast and twist the loud handle it reminds me how great it is to be alive. It's a tough call, giving up riding.
As for my buddy's Stang, it grew from a fast street car to a strictly 1/4 mile monster that will not be street legal.
It is a pro-built 351 with Edelbrock Victor Jr. heads with rocker stud girdles, zero clearance deck height and 12:1 fly cut pistons, tunnel ram intake, high lift long duration cam, forged crank, 4 bolt mains, modified C4 tranny with a 4500 rpm stall and a tranny brake, Mosier (sp) 32 spline axles with no differential capability (i.e., like the old Detroit Locker), 4.56 gears, fuel cell, 3 point harness, roll cage, reinforced frame, open headers, and a bunch of other stuff I'm sure I forgot about.
The builder guarantees he will lift the front end on launch and run in the 10's. I can't wait to see/hear this thing. The ultimate sleeper - looks like **** on the outside from a car fire - he doesn't plan on repainting - wants to fool the competition into thinking he has no money!
