Need surround recommendation
My current HT setup consists of:
- an old pair of RT12's
- CSi40 center-channel
- FX300i rears
- Velodyne CT120 sub
- Denon 3804 receiver
- Oppo 721 DVD player
- Philips 50" plasma
I am starting construction on a new house. My HT will be in the den, which has a 12' ceiling. The back of the room opens to the kitchen/eating area, and the left side opens to the dining room and entrance area. So basically there are only two walls, at the front and right side.
At the front of the room is a niche which is about 30" deep and 84" wide. That is where the HT will be. I will mount my 50" plasma on the wall, and place the center speaker on a console under the TV. I was planning to put my RT12's on either side of the console -- I'm even thinking of building faux columns on the sides of the niche and hiding the speakers inside them.
I'm not real sure what to do about the rear channels, however. I don't really have anyplace to mount on-wall speakers, so my current plan is to go with in-ceiling. I'm having the builder do the wiring, and I will install the speakers myself.
Can anyone recommend which in-ceiling speakers would sound best with the rest of my system?
Or given the limitations of the room, would I be better off going with the Surround Bar or something similar?
The system is used 90% for HT, and occasionally for CD and DVD-Audio.
...still dreaming of the day when I can build a dedicated HT room!

Anyone using in-ceilings care to post your comments? -
One more bump...I could use some advice here!

EricT - You'll get some advice, I am sure. A lot of members will be logging in at night. I wish I could help you out on the in-ceiling idea, but it should be OK, as your rear surrounds are not as critical as your center and L/R channels. And you can get one of the models of ceiling speakers with an adj. tweeter so you can dial in the sound you are looking for....

The LC80i looks pretty nice. According to the specs, the freq response is the same as the LC60i. How does it compare with the TC series speakers? They look pretty similar.
