I am looking to buy an APC S15 bettery backup power conditioner pretty soon and was wondering if there is anybody here that can get a good price for one. Possibly a dealer willing to cut me a deal? PM me if you have info that would be helpfull.

Also if anyone has any input as to wether or not this is a good unit for my HT I would appreciate it.

Thanks

not sure about that model, but most apc units add noise to the system from what I've seen.

    This is useful info.
I was reading about them and they are designed for HT applications but of coarse they will not tell me if it will make noise in my system.
It is supposed to have a pure sine wave comming off the battery but from what I have read the noise (if any) comes from keeping the battery charged.

I am basically looking for another conditioner for the bedroom and if I can get one that is better than my Panamax then the main rig gets the new unit and the bedroom gets the hand-me-downs.

P.S. I like the idea of the battery because it gives me time to shut things down in the event of a total failure. Or to finish the last 10 min of the movie during an outage.

Well Monster just came out with an HT conditioning UPS system and it barely keeps a TV alone going for more than a minute or two, let alone an entire HT system that's pulling a lot of current. Just another thought.

The APC S15 is supposed to put out 900w for 11 min.
I am worried about the noise. If I spend over a grand for a conditioner I don't want to get one that adds noise.

I think it is better to get a conditioner from companies fully dedicated to AV power and with good reputation with that.

But under powering an HT system can be more damaging. I think this maybe more risky :(
Gear: Rotel RC 1082, Rotel RSP 1068 pre/pro, Rotel RMB1077 amp, Cayin CDT 15a CD player, S301 bluray.

    Conditioner: Isotek :D

the other thing you might think about is how long the battery lasts. it might get you 11 minutes out of the box but those batteries lose life very quickly. the one i have a work for my computer is only a few years old or so and now only gives me like 30 seconds in the case of a outage. grated the model you are looking at is probably better, but it is something to think about.

The battery life is an issue, I don't really want to get something that dies before I even get to use it.
APC has been doing back up power for computers for awhile and now offer this and other models for the HT market.
I am just not sure about needing the backup power.

Currently I am checking out Exactpower, Surgex, Enviropower (?), Brickwall, Tice, and any others I find.

    Thanks for all the input.
