Really, who cares? The press is always so damn hard-up for stories that they make things like this worse than whats going on overseas.

Very sad, IMHO.

Britney Spears drives with her kid on her lap and what happens...OH MY GOD, SHE'S THE WORST HUMAN BEING IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND.

I wish the press would give it a break already and report on stuff worthwhile.

I think a bit much is being made of it, but just because a story's big doesn't mean it is overshadowing what's happening elsewhere. There is more happening i the world, you can't only focus on the one story, even if it is the most important story.

Beyond that, if the guy was betting on games that his own team was playing in.... what makes him any different than Pete Rose? I mean, Gretsky is a hockey LEGEND, he all but made the NHL what it is today, but that doesnt' give him complete immunity.

I don't believe Gretzky, himself, is even being looked at. It's Janet that's been doing the betting. In the past month or so, she supposedly has placed bets totaling over $500k.

She's got it bad...she bet $5k on the coin flip of the Superbowl. :rolleyes: :eek:

I really don't think Wayne is stupid enough to have bet on hockey. From the interview I saw with him, I believe he really doesn't know how bad Janet's gambling has gotten.

You're misunderstanding my post.

The press is treating it like it's a world crisis. It's plastered EVERYWHERE! There are no doubt more pressing stories than this, but because it's a celebrity, they bump everything else to the bottom. Look how freaked out they got over Britney Spears with her kid on her lap (not that it was right to do). How many non-celebrities you think have done this. Because it was her, bump everything to the side and create an international incident!

She most likely has her own $$$, seeing that she was pretty famous before they ever met. These people don't have conventional marriages like most of us do. I wouldn't doubt if there's a pre-nup, too.

She supposedly bet a pretty penny on the SB....I wonder who she took???

I agree. If the pathetic public wasn't so pathetic they'd have a life of their own and wouldn't be worrying about someone elses. It never ceases to amaze me.
And while we're at it, another thing that irks me is the publics insistance that people in the public eye, i.e. actors, sports figures, etc., adhere to greater standards as far as being role models etc. They're just doing what they're good at or what they can make a living at, just like the next Joe. They didn't ask for all these extra added responsibilities. Besides, it's the public that puts them up there on the pedestal to begin with. And then we want them to do the role model job for us because we're too pathetic to do it ourselves. What a bunch of freakin' baloney.
