Ok, check out the attachment... Can you do this with any amp??? (assuming that you can get the reversed phase on one channel)

edit: sonofawhore attachments aren't working. Basically, you use a y cable to feed a single signal to both channels, put one channel 180 degrees out of phase, wire the negative terminals together and wire the speaker to the positive terminals.

I still couldn't get the pdf to open, must be the lunch hour traffic...

anywho, I don't think this would work with any amp, but I am still a bit fuzzy on the logic of what the phase has to do with it.

I know that Sunfire has an odd way to bridge as well, they combine a Lab output w/ the L/R on the single channel, then cross splice something else, then roll into another output etc. It was far to confusing when I read it in the manual, and I was only using it for stereo anyway so I didn't pay to much attention.

    Back to your question.

On my parasound it is pretty easy to bridge. From the Pre/Amp Left Out to the L input on one of the amps. Then run a single speaker wire across both speaker terminals(it is labeled)

From the Pre/Amp Right Out to the L input on the other amp, and run the speaker cable the same.

Flipping the phase makes the positive terminal have the proper potential across them.

Lets say +1 volt on the input gives you +30 volts across on the red vs black terminals. So if you flip the phase on one channel, then you get +30 across the one side, -30 across the other side, so the net is +60 across the positive terminals. I'm just surprised because these are basically monoblocks- they share a chassis ground, but that's it, but it seems to imply that you can bridge-mono just about any amp just by flipping the phase on one input (if it's a common ground amp).

My amp has the ability to run bridged in this manor. Instead of having a polarity switch, it has two RCA inputs out of phase for each channel.

    Refer to page 10.

Huh... it would certainly seem that one could easily rig a bridge mono switch onto any amp with an XLR input or a phase switch. I need to find an old amp and a crap driver to try this out on...
