Here's one of the main reasons for the cost of taking a family of four to a NBA game(tickets, parking, refreshments) being about $400+/-. God forbid one of the kids wanting a t-shirt or a pendant.

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jonathan_bender/index.html?nav=page

And he's retiring and will be paid the rest of his contract with over 2 years left of a 4yr/$28 million.

I've met the arrogant punk. All he did last 2 seasons was go around bugging car dealers and wanting them to sell him rare cars for less than cost. Go figure

Hell. he averaged less than a 40 games per year and 15 minutes per game. Anyone like to figure up his per minute income??

he was a child in the NBA taking a nightly beating on the court and he couldn't hang...
better yet, see where all this "prep star" promise takes ya
for every kobe bryant and moses malone, there's a thousand benders and kwame browns
i'm sick of it and the current state of the NBA reflects it
no offense to your hometown team, as they are an excellent organization who have handled many issues (most notably Artest) in a dignified matter...
but if you spend money on children, you're going to bite the bullet more often than not
    just my 2 ducets ;)
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Believe it or not, but I believe the Pacers would be better off without Jermaine O'neal, too.

"He scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Pacers against the Utah Jazz, 3/14/03."

$7 million and thats the best he ever did.

Blame the owners and league for paying this guy that much. If someone wanted to pay me that much for the total lack of skills i have, I'll take it!

Pricing themselves out of business. Give it time. It'll happen. Look at General Motors. **** products at rediculous prices.
    No excuses!

    WOW!!!!
i'd love to hear your reasoning (and i'm completely open...)
-- i'm referring to O'Neal and not the owners :)

O'Neal has no concept of team ball, period, nuff said. The best team for the last three years, Detroit, has no real "SUPERSTAR", just a damn good TEAM. Same with the Spurs, though Duncan could/should be considered an ELITE player. The main reason I don't Duncan a "Superstar", but an Elite player, is that it's not all about him all the time like it is with most of the "SUPERSTARS".
Even with his past transgressions, I'd take a Rascheed Wallace over J. O'Neal anyday of the week.

i might as well come clean with the fact that i'm a life-long Atlanta Hawks fan (we have our own Donta Smith, or we did since he's now earning his check in the "minors")
-- it takes a lot for a fan to say that about a player of O'Neal's athletic caliber, and i can't say enough good things about the average Pacer fan
they're informed and level-headed, so your assertions are well-taken
    now Lakers fans
    most Knicks fans
and those oh-so fair weathered Chicago fans
must be something about the heartland that tells it straight ;)
