New Lsi9s and "Blu-Tack"?
I just got my new speakers (Lsi9, LsiC, and Lsi7). They sound awesome. These speakers will be replacing RT55s, CS400, and FX500s. I am so excited. I also bought a pair of Target Audio HR70 stands for the Lsi9s. I will be filling the stands soon with shot and sand. I have heard that some people use/recommend "Blu-tack" (damping compound) to help secure speakers to the top plate on speaker stands and they claim it is very secure and does no permanent damage.
Do any of you do this? Do you recommend it? Will it damage the gloss finish on the bottom of the Lsi9s?
Any suggestions or comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Resperc

I use it on my Dynaudio's and my Polk's. It shouldn't damage anything, just be careful when you try removing the speakers from the stand. Don't try to do it quickly, they will be really stuck. Just wiggle the speakers back and forth until it comes loose. I've used it on my speakers for several years with no problems. That stuff has an iron grip on your speakers, it's good piece of mind to keep them from falling off the stands.Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15

I second that. Blu Tack is awsome stuff and it will not do any permanant damage to the finish. Once you unstick it, just rub off any residue with a cloth. I use it all over the place for vibration damping, sticking stuff, and to fill gaps sometimes too.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Yep, I use it, too. Keeps the speakers in place even when the g*****mn cat jumps on top of them.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Oh and don't pay $10 for it from audioadvisor- should only cost you $3. Try staples, office depot, art supply stores, etc.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Yeah, I do find that blu-tack seems to hold its stickiness longer, but maybe that's just because I could see how dirty the white, generic stuff was.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Not a bad idea... I wouldn't try it with speakers that offer an unsealed veneer or something just in case the residue decides to get mashed into the wood grain but with a gloss finish it should be fine. Might have to try this with my 7's if they're ever in a position where I might bump one.

So...
I will be using "Blu-tack" on my new stands and speakers, but how much? Do you guys cover the whole top plate of the speaker stand or do you just apply it at the corners?
Thanks for the advice. Resperc -
Just a pea to marble size piece at each corner should more than do the trick.Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15
