Need help with LS50 details...urgent
I am about to bid on a set of these but have some questions that I can't find here or on the main POLK site...
What year were these speakers introduced (1995 ?)
Having 2 main drivers - are they bi-wireable ?
How would they compare to a set of RT8's that I already have ?
I will be using them mainly for 2 channel audio but also have a CS350LS centre and a set of bookshelf rears...running on a Denon AVR-2106 receiver for Home theatre use.

I think they were introduced in around 1993. They are not bi-wirable. They would match the CS350LS perfectly...same tweeter and driver types. In my opinion they were much better for HT. I am not familiar with the RT's so can't help you there. BTW, someone else from NZ asked about these recently.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. Computer - Windows 10/JRiver, Schiit Magni 3+/Modi 3+, Fostex PMO.4n monitors, Sennheiser HD600 headphones -
I dont know if I would roll with those if your primarily doing 2 channel. although, yes, they would match with that cs350 perfectly for home theater. I have the LS90's, I absolutly love them for theater. sounds just the way I like it. No upgrades on the home theater speaks anytime soon. but for 2 channel, they sound good, but they dont sound as great as I would like.
that notwithstandig, you wouldnt go too wrong getting them based on price. I wouldnt spend more than 150 - 200 absolute tops for them in phenomenal shape. some here would say that is even too muchLiving Room 2 Channel -

Thanks for the advice, Polks are not that well known here and I have only ever had my RT8's.
So I was feeling a bit blind
The guy was wanting a starting bid of $500 ($340 US) for 2 x LS50's, 1 x CS350LS (which I already have anyway) and a smaller pair of Polk's that he has not listed the model.
His auction never got a bid (I think the price was a little high - even in NZ $).. -
looking at it all together, yeah its high. the LS50 isnt a big draw speaker
the LS90 is the most desired of the line (biggest)Living Room 2 Channel -

The Ls90s sound much better than the 50s...I used to have the 50s and my friend had the 90s and I always noticed a big difference

Bmacker,
What tweeter do you have in those RT8's? I've seen some contradictory info on them that indicates they have the same tweet as the CS250s (sl5001). Did you ever get the LS50's? I have a pair that should be on their way to me.
