I just had a small revelation, could my spl meter be causing all my setup woes?
I have noticed that everyone seems to use the radioshack meter, but I have an extech would different offsets apply to a different meter for sub calibration?

No, each meter will have it's own correction values that need to be applied.

I looked at your other thread...what exactly are you having problems with? I think you said you were getting 96db at 20hz. With correction factors similar to RS this would put you in the low 100s. Figuring you're getting 96 with a sine wave played back at -10 (75-78db) you are still getting room gain and it's not close to max output. Try putting in the Incredibles and play the Rocket launch at -10. Set your meter to fast and note the peak during the scene. I'll bet you see in excess of 105db.

I'm sure your room like mine has some challenges. Mine are concrete floors which inhibits pressurization and an opening into another 5000 cube. To compensate I've got my sub set fairly hot for HT, +10 over mains. I dial it back for music (sometimes).

yea, I suffer from concrete floor syndrome. I just put it right next to the couch and it gives me a nice massage.
