CD Storage

I'm looking for a new project to do in school and I thought I could really use some better cd storage. I've been trying to find a good design to copy or base something off of but I want something that would make it easy to display cd's that are in paper sleeves as well as normal cd cases. The majority of my cds are in paper sleeves because most of my music has come from flea markets and garage sales or is on a burned cd. I have about 250 cd's to make storage for and about 70 of those have cases, the rest are either in paper sleeves or one of the case things I have (can be moved to paper sleeves though).

Anyone have a good idea on a nice style rack that would aid in finding cd's so that I'm not looking at the edges of 180 paper sleeves? I might just do a simple shelf style floorstanding rack but I'm hoping to find a good way to view the paper sleeved ones on an angle or something so that I can read what's in them without having to flip through.

What do you people use to store your music?

    I cannot take a picture of mine right now, but mine are made of solid oak. There are 8 compartments and each one of those holds 14 CD's (standard plastic cases). I have two of them and wish I had a third. Each unit stands 50" high and is 7.5" wide. The oak is 3/4" thick.

    I use a Jukebox CD player, amazing storage capabilities, keeps the disc safe, tells you the name, title, artist and genre, dials up the CD you want and even spits it out at you, very cheap to purchase, and once in a while I even let it play a cd.

    I've always found something special in going over to the CD or album shelves and picking out the disc that is just right then putting it in the player and listening away...

    Of course I have a 5-disc as well for convince.

    Maybe some day I will get with the times like RT1.

    But back on subject, I customized a lawyer’s book case (The ones with glass pull down doors) with an additional shelf to hold twice as many CD's and a back stop to keep them all closer to the front and all lined up perfectly. With the doors pulled down it looks very good, my wife doesn’t even mind...LOL

    I have no problem designing something that would work to hold normal jewel cases it's just the loose cd's or paper sleeve ones that's giving me the hassel.

    I'll keep the cd changer in mind (one of those 200+ disc sony ones or similar right?) but if I can swing it I'd much rather have a shelf or rack that I can have up against my wall -- Plus I'm bored in tech and have to find myself a new project.

    Yea, one of those Jukeboxes, dont expect much for sound though, I had to hook mine to an outboard DAC to make it bearable. I usually just have it spin the disc to me and then put it in a single disc player in the Reel Time Rig.

    Yea, picking out an album with the jacket is fun, CD, well its like what do you like, Cardboard or Plastic, give me the cardboard jacket and artwork anytime. I like the feel of vinyl, god I need therapy.
