Im getting worried here

I recently moved my svs to a different spot in the room, and finally got around to calibrating it. While I was calibrating I noticed a 10-15db fluctuation in the reading with it set on slow/c weighting. I can hear the variation and if I put my hand lightly on the woofer I can feel it moving more. I have tried setting the sub output to -10 and it makes no difference. Nothing I do seems to make any difference. Could it be the cable? Im using a 10 foot thin **** cheap non subwoofer rca.

okay, not totally sure about the noise you are hearing but the "fluctuataions" in your SPL that you are seeing are normal although somewhat high. where are you pointing your SPL when you are calibrating the sub? since sound at those frequencies are not very directional, i have been told that you should not be pointing directly at the sub but slowly moving it back and forth across the room to get a more broad reading. in this case you will still get fluctuations (i am guessing from the resonance of the room) and you should take the average (give or take) of those measurments as the level. when i do mine, i typically get a 3-4dB range.

I got the best cable I could, a decent 25 foot, gold plated cable with "Directional sheilding" I dont know how they do it! It smoothed it out quite a bit, I think most of the variation is from the room now.dvd player: samsung DVD-HD850
