Who needs new speakers?

I have been in a bit of a stereo drought of late. My AX-10 is in the shop for the last 3 months (they can't seem to fix it), so I had taken my preamp out of the chain to show it to a friend of mine in his stereo. I've been down for over 2 months. (BTW, he was so impressed with the 3000 that he has already scored one and sent it off to Mike at Alta Vista. It's replacing his Krell KAV-280p.)
Since I was getting a sizeable tax return back, I got the itche to replace my LSi15's with something better. I auditioned some Spendors (5se and 8se), some Tannoys (used d700's), and was trying to hook up a demo of Vandersteen 3A's and the new Gallo speaker. In the process, I got a new album (Nora Jones' first), so I wanted to listen to it on my stereo. It sounded great in the showroom.
Man, I forgot just how good my stuff sounded! What a dufus! Needless to say, I am no longer looking for new speakers. While it is very likely that a better speaker powered by my Counterpoint equipment would sound even better, there might just be some serious synergy going on here with the LSi15's. I am so satified with the way everything sounds, I have decided to SAVE the tax refund! Crazy!
Sigh-ning off in rapture.....

not a surprise. are there better speakers than the LSi15's? sure
but for how much. I really feel you can spend twice the amount on something else than for the LSi line and not get much better, if any better at all.
if your going to try to reach for that much more performance, without spending as much as you would on a small car. Used might be the only way to go.Living Room 2 Channel -
