Pulled the trigger today and will be upgrading to the RTi series. Purchased with the wife's blessings: RTi8, CSi5, FXi5, and Velodyne DLS3750R sub. Gonna have some lunch then go pick them up with a buddy's truck. It will be nice hearing Seattle beat Pittsburgh on the new speakers! :)

Need advice from you guys mostly regarding subwoofer hookup. These may sound like dumb questions but when it comes to setting up a sub I'm a little lost. My new sub has low pass crossover ranging from direct to 80hz to 40hz. Not sure where to set this. The high pass crossover settings are 100Hz and 80Hz, again not sure which is best. The crossover setting in the receiver I have set at 80Hz. I have the subwoofer cable connected to input LFE In jack, I'm assuming thats right. Is one way better than the other setting the auto on/off switch to active or inactive? In regards to the two terminals on the RTi's, does it matter which one you use the top or bottom? Right now I'm using the bottom terminals. I apologize in advance if these questions seem a little dumb. I need some guidance so I can get the most out of my new system, much different from what I was used to, especially the sub.

Good on you for the upgrade. Make sure you can get it all hooked up in time.

As for what will sound best to you regarding the subwoofer, I think you are just going to have to listen lots to different settings and find what strengths your speakers and subwoofer have when it comes to the bass.

Thanks Shizelbs. The problem for me is I don't know where to begin. I don't want to do something and mess up the sub.

Maybe poor choice of words as far a messing up a sub goes. Basically I'm posting to get advice from people far more knowledgable than me when it comes to subs.

I made almost the exact same leap and am very happy with the improvement in sound quality, hopefully you should be as well. Congrats.

As far as the sub I agree with the above. Its hard to give hard and fast rules for setup. Especially depending it your receiver has a crossover of its own and it that is able to be turned off. Just experiement with crossover, level and placement until the sub fills out the bottom end but isnt really noticable at the same time. Good luck :)

I did some more tweaking and can really tell the difference in sound quality. A huge jump in quality from the R series. Definitely takes time to make little adjustments here and there. I want to find a happy medium that will make me happy until we move then our home theater will have its own room instead of being in the living room. Right now I can't really play with placement of the sub because I'm limited were I can put it. I did some research and came across the Rives Audio Test CD 2 and I'm thinking of getting this to calibrate the sub once we move into our new house.
