after some helpful thought from you alll i ve decided on this system: the mtx shown below, pushing the polk db212-2, polk db-570's in the front and db 690's in the rear, with a panasonic cqc7301u head unit.
what do you think?

Someone proposed using the same amp for your speakers to also power your sub?

Personally, I'd do a seperate amp for the subs because those will have a much bigger power draw than your other speakers in the car......

am i going to have to worry about blowing the 6x9's out of the rear deck cause of sub pressure do i need baffles to protect them you know the foam ones or will dynamat wor to protect the speakers, ive also heard putting a little dynamat behind the speakers helps to protect them also

If the pressure is great enough to destroy a set of 6x9;s then i doubt a piece of foam or plastic will help... maybe you could mount one of those wooden 6x9 boxes underneath, that would be my guess, or better yet, dont put the speakers in there in the first place...

they sell speaker baffles at crutchfield, but I really don`t think you`ll be pushing enough air to worry about it...
The baffles may make the 6x9`s sound better, but I`m not sure..
Dynamat is fairly easy to install if you have the time and patience to do it, or CC may do it for you...not sure....not sure if they even sell it there..
    That`s a question for Cody...

two polk DX 10's (old 300 watt subs) were enough to blow stock speakers out of the rear deck...

I solved it by getting some hard plastic speaker baffles (pep boys had them) -- the foam ones aren't as good for the application -- try to get the hard plastic ones.... they're like 5 bucks... you just drop them in under the speaker when you put the speaker in the deck. you WILL be glad you did it.

as far as the amp... 600 watts is fine for the DB 12's... so ya its ok.

if you're going to get an amp for your highs, just get a matching 4 channel from MTX....

the cd changer should be fine - the only thing you have to worry about is the bass shaking it and making it skip.

however, if it is mounted securely, and it is a decent quality changer (a name brand like kenwood, pioneer, alpine, etc... and not flea market stuff like Pyramid of Legacy) then even hard bass won't make it skip. My 10 disc kenwood rarely if ever skips and its mounted about 3 inches from a box with 4 subs in it.

As far as the baffles... they should not charge you more to put them in under the speakers as long as they put them in at the same time --- they literally just drop them into the speaker hole and then drop the speaker on top of them (into them).

it is a good idea to also put some poly fill (it looks like a big giant cotten ball... its the stuff they stuff up cheap pillows with) inside the baffle.

would baffels be something i could do myself or would it be better to get the baffels and tell them i want them installed when they do the speakers and give them a bag of polyfill.

to put baffles in, you have to remove the speakers, and then reinstall the speakers... so if you can't put the speakers in yourself, then you can't put the baffles in yourself either.

and they're only gonna need like two handfulls of polyfill... no where near a bag full... hell literally, just two small handfulls. they probably have that much just laying around in the "junk / left over parts bin" at the shop, so i wouldn't go buying a 3 pound bag of the stuff for no reason.

i could always thro some in my pillow lol. i have a crown vic and i cant see the rear speakers in the deck cause they are coverd over by carpet. i believe they drop in from the top cause from the underneath you cant get to them. im going to have cc, install them from the top and use the grills, that com with the dbs so i can show off the speakers and make them easier to access. does that sound like a good idea.

    ehhhh...

first, LED sticks looks **** in my opinion... so if you go with anything, use regular neon, it has a bit of a warmer glow in my opinion.

second, i wouldn't go overboard. you are just starting out with one amp and a twin sub box right now. eventually you're going to want to add another amp, or maybe get different subs or just a different box for your subs or whatever... point is, you'll end up moving things around. if you put too much neon in there now, you're not going to have room to move anything or add any gear in the future. and even if you do, you['ll end up having to disconnect and then rewire your lighting. So I'd say two 15" sticks - one on each side of the truck... on opposite sides of the lock mechanism in the middle... up against the tail light section, shooting toward the front of the trunk. tuck them away kinda so you don't see the "guts" of them, just the main bulb and the light they show.

lighting is one of those things where "more is less" --- a few WELL PLACED lights are way way way way more awesome than a bunch of **** placed lights.

there's a dude on this board, i forget who he is, but he did just a couple sticks in his car and it looked absolutely sick -- blue light was "casting glow" over his pedals up front and it just accented the car beautifully.

oh - try to coordinate it with your car too...

i've got a gold (well its more like a funky metallic tan - they call it "metallic almond") truck with a dark navy blue tu-tone on the bottom... so what goes good with gold? purple... i did a streetglow purple neon undercar kit -- 4 three foot sticks (or something like that), and strobe lights behind the grille. came out allright. but had i gone with something like red or green or yellow it would have looked pretty stupid.... the light blue might have looked ok, but i thought it would not go well with the dark blue on the bottom of the truck.

so keep that in mind when you pick a color... something that goes decent with your ride.

trunk organisers? i have a couple 200-CD books, about 12"x12"x3", those work great... for a standard HU, a dry or very lightly damp towel (microfiber preferred) will be fine, stay away from cleaning agents... for a screen, i'd assume the same, but no promises, check the manual...
