Well I have recently purchased two different csi3 units and both times they have had damage to them when they arrived. The first time from Fry's it had a big dent in the corner of the veneer, and I just sent one back to Crutchfield that had a broken grill brand new out of the box. I guess the csi3 was not meant for me. So today I just bought me a csi5 from ebay :D

Cant wait until it arrives! It better GD be mint! :o

I've bought two pair of Polks on the internet, one pair from Ebay, and one pair from Crutchfield. Both arrived damaged. Polk doesn't seem to package their speakers well enough to handle shipping.

At least the Crutchfield center could have been remedied by Polk, hope the eBay box shows up ok, because only the seller can fix that one.

I agree that polk pacaking it utter garbage. My monitor 70s came in tall boxes that only had foam protection for the top and bottom of the speakers. The midde sections were exposed, and one box from CC had a gash in it. I was happy to find no damange to the speaker when i got home, but that's pretty risky. Same deal with the PSW10 that i got with them.

The packaging for the Monitor 30s seemed adequate though.

That seems really odd to me. I have had 2pr-LSi7, 2pr-LSi9, 2pr-LSi15, 2pr-LSiFX, 2-LSiC, 1pr-RTi6, 1pr-RTi4 PSW404, PSW650, PSW1000 all shipped to me directly from polk and have never once had a problem with packaging. In fact the first entire LSi system I had, and both pair of RTi I sold and shipped in original boxes various places around the country and still never had a single issue. Makes me think the dealers are being WAY too rough on them.

Also at my last job it was very rare that we got any damaged polks. Klipsch on the other hand were a nightmare. I remember one time for a customer we went through 5 RF7s before we were able to get an "acceptable" pair  . I say acceptable because they were all damaged. He just finally agreed to take the two with the least damage.

    cmy,

Sounds like you have been very lucky with your Polk purchases. The RTi28's I bought, Polk packed with only cardboard inserts less than .3 inch thick to protect the speakers. The CSi40 was packed with only thin foam on each end. and nothing in between but the very flimsy box.

Even the pair I bought locally were damaged and had to be exchanged, the dealer told me they have had major problems with at least 20% shipping damage. He was thinking of dropping their line, although he hasn't yet.

It's not the dealers who are rough on them, it's UPS/Fed-Ex etc. If Polk is going to have authorized online dealers, they need to package them to withstand rough handling/dropping during shipping.

www.jr.com double boxed my CSi3, it arrived in perfect shape. They also tend to have free shipping with a lot of Polk speakers.

Ive never had a packaging problem. I agree that if you handle them and dont abuse them, most polk packaging should be fine. I have seen some beat up boxes before, but you cant fault Polk for how dealers handle tham.

Maybe Polk's good name is encouraging some people in shipping and receiving and inventory to have "accidents" to get good deals as employees :)
