I was going out to get some stuff out of my car and looked across the parking lot to see the hood up on a neighbors car.....smelled a bit of a burn, but just saw some smoke......few seconds later and there were flames shooting up along the firewall....
Ran inside and got a fire extinguisher and gave it to him then started filling mixing bowls up with water.....lucky **** just about lost his whole car.......
I just had one of those little kitchen size extinguishers, but now I can see that I should get a bigger one just in case.....better safe than sorry...

Hell no......i went out there with the water and handed it to him.....told him it's your car, you pour it.....I wasn't outside when he emptied the extinguishercomment comment comment comment. bitchy.

Big mistake. Never pour water on an oil or gas fire. Same in the kitchen, car, garage etc. If it mixes with the combustible material it will run wherever the water goes. It is likely to get exciting within seconds, especially as it runs under your feet. Better to just sit back and enjoy the fire. Just an FYI if you didn't know.

Makes sense.......the majority of it was all out with the extinguisher......the hood liner was smothering, and that took most of the water with a little bit on the engine.........
I was thining baking powder/soda, but didn't think i had enough of that to do much to the flames........comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

Good point about using water to put it out. I had never thought about that.George Grand wrote: »
