Another ebay holding feedback hostage thread

I paid this scumbag IMMEDIATELY after the auction ended. He sent me a receiver that was nowhere near the condition he said it was in. He then has the nerve to email me, stating that once I leave him positive he'll do the same.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5857945362

Here's his email and my response :D

Hope you received everything OK and that were no problems with the merchandise. If everything is OK and you leave positive feedback I will do the same. Thank You John

Actually, that's called holding feedback hostage and is against ebay policy. I paid IMMEDIATELY, therefore you are supposed to leave positive feedback because I did exactly what I was supposed to do.

On with the Panny. In the question/answer part of the auction you stated this:

Only one tiny 1/16 inch ding on front corner.

Well, that's not hardly the case. There are seven spots on the front of the receiver where the paint has worn away, and the smallest one is around 1/8". On the top back left corner is a scratch around 3" long. The front metal housing is also concaved in pretty good. I own two more of these receivers to see if this was common and my other two are perfectly flat. You also shipped it completely filthy.

I'll stop here and let you reply.

I'd leave him negative feedback right now but I know he'll do the same for me, and I don't want to ruin my 100%. God, I hate people like this. Oh, and I love his $2 handling charge, too.

The pics look pretty good. Do you think he shipped something other than the pictured unit? If you think he did a bait/switch, I would demand a refund and get PayPal involved if he doesn't agree. That has potential problems though and you have to decide if the unit is really that bad and if the price you paid was fair considering the actual condition.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

He has 100% feedback as well. Tell him what you want.

Edit: Given his feedback he doesn't want a negative either.

It sucks, I have one bad feedback from another user after I left neg feedback. She didn't pay me for a time sensitive event (ticket to a football game), so I had to sell the extra one at the game, for a rather large hit on my end. So I left her bad feedback saying that she didn't pay, didn't email, call etc. She then leaves me feedback saying that I refused to send her the ticket. B.S. anyway I was so pissed I sent ebay a letter, even showing them email from me and her, showing that she totally lied, and basically telling me to deal with it, and EBAY did absolutely NOTHING. So now I will forever have a 99.(something) feedback rating.....DAMN!!!!

It sucks; I left negative feedback to a guy that never shipped after I paid immediately; at the end I had to file a claim and Paypal refunded my money, but this SOB left me negative...in revenge????

    last question on the auction:

    Jan-27-06
Q: What's the cosmetic condition of this unit?

A: I would say good to excellent. Only one tiny 1/16 inch ding on front corner. No scratches on top or sides. bottom has some marks. Thanks for the question

Yep, join the club, and ebay will not do anything unless you both agree to pull the feedback....

Bizill - Be ready to get a negative feedback if you leave a honest negative feedback for him, its just the way a lot of people are. I always leave appropriate immediate feedback, it would be nice if everyone else had the same ethics as I/we..

My only neg is from a guy who purchased something from me and even admitted to never reading my auction! He saw a good price and bid WITHOUT READING! I noted that it was free shipping with buy it now, otherwise it's $50. Did he see or read that? NO! So he bought it and wanted the free shipping (my title even had "Free S/H w/BIN") but didn't care and left me negative first. I swear, people are dipshits.

yeah, i've got something 'neutral' to say, but then that would expose me to some of the same. i always pay immediately. but if i leave neutral, odds are i'll get the same for whatever reason. i wouldn't dare leave the seller negative, though they deserve it...i'm trying to work through it right now.

Sometimes it pays to download and photoshop poor listing pics. Not seeing bad spots here, but I have seen scratched tops, etc. show up in the past that were not visible in small, dim listing pics...

How was the unit packed? I've had a couple items that were packed in peanuts without so much as a plastic grocery bag around them show up with wear from the peanuts rubbing on them in transit.

As for keeping 100% positive feedback... I lost mine a while ago and have found it to be liberating. Nothing wrong with 98+% and no more worries about keeping mine perfect.

As for ebay getting involved... I'm glad they don't as the scammers would take greater advantage of the removal process. No way ebay can tell whether an e-mail has been doctored to look like proof of this or that.

I've tried emailing him two more times and no response. I'd love to do something about it, but I know if I leave the negative he'll come back with a negative to me, which isn't what I want. I may just have to eat this one and keep my mouth shut, which is very hard for me to do.

Mazeroth - I would say leave him appropriate feedback, if it is bad, then so be it. You can reply back to a feedback he leaves for you if it is bad to set the record straight. I won't ever hesitate to leave someone bad feedback if it warrants it again. You aren't doing any other potential buyer a favor by leaving good feedback on a bad deal..
