I have a Krell 400xi being delivered, we'll actually they showed up at my place when I was at work. I have a couple questions because everything I've bought in the past has been within my native borders of Canada.

Once this unit is in Canada, is it not Canada Post that takes over the delivery being subcontracted out by the US?

I work full time and can't be here during business hours, I thought about using my work address for shipment but I'm on the road for 3-4hrs a day. Will there be a pickup point after a certain number of missed delivery's? And do you think this pickup point will be a Canadian post office?

Thanks.

I guess there is 0% possibility of the unit coming on a Saturday =( f'n posties!

Congrats, Lush! Canadian Post doesn't work on Saturday? USPS actually the only delivery that works , for regular mail and packages. I don't get neither UPS nor Fedex ground on Sat.

I am sure you'll be thrilled.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

In my case Canada Post leaves a sticker on the door if I'm not home giving the local PO where the package can be picked up (here it's at the satellite office at the drug store). Bring some money to pay for duty and taxes. Oh....no weekend deliveries.

Yes to your question.....Canada Post takes over after USPS.

I never got a sticker, then for some reason I decided to use the US tracking number on canadapost.ca

Sure enough it worked, i just drove over to a local 7-11 and guess what? It was there. It's hooked up and breaking in now. My early thoughts? Exactly what I was looking for, a substantial step up from my SimAudio in terms of blacker background, deeper and tighter bass and more fullness through the mid-range. It's a little rough around the edges buts it's only been on for 40mins now. I expect more after a couple days.

    Congrats!

Picked it up at the local 7-11, eh? Things work differently up north, that's for sure.

How did you manage with any duties or taxes?

I just bought a head unit for a friend off ebay and it showed up at my door with a bill of $92 attached to it. Never ship accross the border with ups.... Also for future reference make sure that if you know you won't be home for delivery call them to arrange a pickup time. I found out the night before the final delivery that if I'm not home during that delivery period they just give up and ship it back to the sender. Fuggin useless ups.

You have to pay duty anytime something comes across the border, my cost was just under $100 and its basically the taxes (15%) on the marked value of the item. You could put down $10 for the item, just remember if the delivery company loses your item their only on the hook for $10.

Mine was shipped United States Postal Service Express, it was actually sent to my home on Friday while I was at work, there was no sticker left on the door though. By chance on Saturday morning after starting this thread I decided to see if the US tracking number would work on Canadapost.ca ... it did! My nearest postal counter is built into a local 7-11...It was early morning I grabbed a tooth brush and brushed the ivory, threw on a pair of jeans and I was off. It was $150US to ship then another $90ish CDN in duty. Needless to say I'm very happy and I got a great deal, but I'll never be buying something this big states side again. I've made numerous cable purchases off of Audiogon that were easy, this was the first big purchase and it was a little stressfull. The unit I bought was brand new sealed in a box though!
