Thanks for the input so far, guys.

Doro, I like where you're going. I was thinking of something along those lines but could only come up with Borealis Audio, Borealis Sound, etc. Then I thought about Celestial Audio. Low and behold, some guy already has it!

    :D

Too much like Celestron too - whether the telescope or the old speaker it screams mid-market to me...

    How about:

Binary Audio - "Gravity in Sound" (commonly known as double stars. Techinically two stars that revolve around a common center of gravity - like your bookshelves)

I have always thought about doing this too - I picked out a name even... which might be a little pretentious but it went with my last name:
Audio V - "truth in sound" (my last name is Virtue) - anyway, best of luck to you if you decide to go with it, I will be envious! :)

Be original, not normal and safe.

but you would have to be able to back that up and not make them think you were just a Trekkie.

    No offense to Trekkies.

    Good luck.

Hey! Does the first two seasons (original) on DVD make me a nerd? Or does using a word like nerd do that?

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. You were looking for something a little dark. How about

    Umbra Audio.

    Umbra.
From the Latin for shade, it is the shadow area defining a total eclipse. or the dark central region of a sunspot.

Keeping it dark in different genres:

Musically, you could go for Nocturne Audio or Nocturne Systems

Nocturne - A musical composition that has a romantic or dreamy character with nocturnal associations.

Or you could go for the film angle Noir Audio or Systems

Noir -- "The term was coined by postwar French film critics as film noir (black film) to describe the sort of movie characterized by dark photography and a despairing, doom-laden sense of life. Scholars of the mystery story found it convenient to use the term for work that shared the same attitude…Typical themes in noir work include obsessive love (or hate, or both), amnesia, illness, betrayal, and man-as-the-plaything of fate" ( Source : DeAndrea, 403
