I'm Going To Be "Fine"

At least from a physical standpoint. First and foremost thanks to the brothers and sister for all your well wishes. It turned the tide..........

Yesterday I went to the orthopedic guy to have the cast put on. He didn't like the x-rays I brought in from the emergency room visit the previous day. He shot new pictures which were much better, and immediately told me to wear nothing but the sling for a few days, ditch the Ace bandage and splint, CAUSE MY ELBOW IS NOT BROKEN! Real bad contusion and possible hairline fracture, but no clean break. YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Told me no work for two weeks (Workmen's Comp, didn't even have to use my sick leave) and to take it easy. So I'll do that.

I have to tell you, the prospect of my wife being the one that may have had to shovel us out of a snowstorm, and me not being able to take a real shower and get all those hard to reach places, was looming hard over my head. The bad arm wasn't a problem, but I couldn't lift it far enough to wash underneath my GOOD arm. Tried a long handle brush in my left hand with the brush end in the pit, and that tactic was marginal at best. Today with no Ace bandage or splint.....I'm fresh as a daisy.

Thanks everybody,

George

Glad to hear you're going to be ok. From the other post, it sounded like quite a fall.

(also, it's always nice when the wife gets those hard to reach spots in the shower ;) ).

Yes, but not with a Brillo pad. There is a dark side to the former Theresa Talamonti that the general public is not privy to.

It was quite a fall I must admit, and probably would have been fatal to a mere mortal.

    Thanks Pablo,

    George

Edited to correct the spelling of my wife's maiden name.

Good to know things turned out better than originally thought. I'm wondering though: didn't you feel any pain after you fell? I've broken bones before, clean breaks and hairline fractures, and they've all hurt like hell. Are you a robot? What's the deal here? Oh wait, you're a pilot. You were probably too drunk to feel anything ;)

Good to hear that it's not broken; take it easy as the Dr recommends; DON'T use this free time to finish all those pending projects you have at home :)

I am not a pilot or an officer. My parents were married prior to my birth, precluding me from being either an officer or pilot. I'm a boom operator on a KC-135E aerial refueling tanker.

It hurt like a **** when I did it. That's why I went to the emergency room. It just took the pain rays/impulses about 45 minutes to go from the affected area, to my T-Rex sized brain. Then to my tear ducts which started working, then to my **** which stopped working along with that ureter muscle thing.

Ah, just re-read the original post. My bad. I hope you get better real quick, though. Any chance I can take a ride on that refueler sometime?

Not even Russ conjured up a mental picture of me wearing nothing but a sling. You boys need to get together sometime, see what arises. ARF!
