wood stain (natural methods)

I have seen a couple of common ways for staining wood, including caustic chemicals and fumes.
Last night I had an experience with gravity that made me think about wine. Can wine be used to stain wood such as poplar and retain the color for a long period of time? Red wine might produce a wood color similar to purple heart.
End caps stained in your favorite wine would be cool. This will require some testing.

really cant comment on how long the color would last but i think that you will enjoy the wine more than the cabinets will...or at least i would

I'm sure if you cover the wine staining with a clear coat of something, it should last forever.Denon AVR-3803

The depth of color you'd get would be very pale. Wine does not make for a good wood stain.Political Correctness'.........defined
