Hey all, I am going to using some M10's as surronds and am wondering about the heigth of them. Due to room constraints (windows and Picture Frames) I am going to have to hang them about 10-11 feet off the floor. Is this too high for them to be effective? I will be using the MCCAC on my Pioneer 815K to set up the surrond sound. What do you guys think?

Usually 6-7 feet or so is recommended, but if you have to put them that high, try to angle them down somewhat. They do not have to fire directly at the listening area, however. If you have all of your distance and level settings correct on the receiver, then the setup should work just fine.

Its been some time since I setup my surrounds, but I believe the rule of thumb is about 3ft above your ears when seated at your listening position.

From my understanding the sound should be going over the listeners head and at the other speaker. Would aiming them down cause problems?

I found this on Audioholics.com, My question now is, are M10's direct radiating speakers?

If you have decided on direct radiating speakers this will improve the rear effects, but there are some things to be careful of. They can not be too close to any listener or they will be annoying. Placing them near the ceiling and far back in the room is generally a good idea. If they are full range speakers, you may want to be somewhat cautious of getting them too close to the corners as it could over re-enforce the bass on the rear channels.
