Any suggestions? Just looking for some music (of any genre really) that incorporates some good String Bass or Cello parts.

    ^ plays violin...

YoYo Ma is a no brainer for comtemporary cello works.

+1 on Chris' Rostopovich rec. Often overlooked...
Check out his Brahms' Cello Sonatas with Rudolf Serkin at the keyboards (Deutsche Grammophon 410 510-2)

Also overlooked is Pablo Casals, probably the first, great, modern cellist.
    More later,
    Tour...

My personal favorite album - 'Wood'. Track 9, solo upright bass doing the Beatles 'Come Together'. NEAT stuff.

I'd pick up the Bach cello suites by Janos Starker....Mercury released it in hybrid SACD

yes, my mistake about perlman! :o

anyway, the hottie that played cello on david gilmour's solo dvd :D i could just WATCH her play! anyway her name is: caroline dale. i think gilmour did a cut or two on her most recent release. gilmour's solo release, due in march will have her on it as well
