I have LSi15s as main. I was planning to buy LSiC.

But recently I read in some threads people think that LSic is note good center.

Whats your opinion or would you suggest any other center channel that will work better with LSi15
Thanks

The main complaint about the LSiC is that the mids on either side of the tweeter are a tiered crossover design so that one side plays mids while the other side plays lower bass. This makes the center speaker seem lopsided at times. This is more pronounced since the speaker is placed horizontal. Some have found the LSi9 to be better as a center if you can use it in your setup.

This complaint is pretty minor in my opinion, but has also been noted in Polk's CSi40 model when they went tiered crossover in that lineup. Your experience may vary.

IMO the LSiC is a great center channel. I have no complaints.

However I know some members prefer using an LSi9 for a center. I guess if you can find a single one for a good price....why not? (EDIT: Looks like Dennis beat me) :)

For what it's worth....I sit about 13 feet from my center channel and don't notice the crossover issue. I would assume those who are complaining about it probably sit closer, which of course makes it more pronounced.

I sit 14' back and have never noticed the crossover issue either. It is a great center and mates well with the entire LSi line. (have used it with fronts of LSi7's and LSi15's)

I find it impossible to tell that only one of the mid-drivers is "working" unless I get within 3-4 feet of the LSiC. The benefit of this design is there is virtually no sweetspot - voices coming out of the LSiC sound clear even if you're 90 degrees off-axis. With my old CSi3 speech was muffled unless you sat within about 10 degress of dead center.

I see those that complain about the crossover have been using the center naked and see only one mid-woofer working hard on deeper passages of music and this causes them concern that they aren't getting all they could out of the speaker. Aren't we a anal little group of worry warts? I personally see the design as an nice engineering move to overcome the small sweet spot and filter combing that happens on MTM designs.

    Great speaker in my books.

LsiC is a great center channel. Front row in my HT is 12' away and it sounds great. Clear dialog, excellant for multichannel music as well.

    Thanks for the responses !

I Didnt know, that was the reason for calling LSiC not so fit as center.

I have RM7500's center as center now and it was dropped  during the move and one of the driver started to rattle. When I opened it yesterday realised that it has same design as you mentioned here. One midrange, one woofer and surprisingly I never realised that. So I think I will go wtih LSiC :)

Thanks again for your advise again !
    Thanks

Hey guys, longtime lurker, rare poster.

I have the LSiC and have never noticed the crossover effect spoken of. I would think you would have to be sitting really close with the L/R turned off to notice it. Will test tomorrow, got me curious now......

a-mattison, we are practically neighbors.. I live in M.P. Glad to see another Polk addict in the 'hood.

    LessisNevermore,

Wow, small world. Yea, I'm definately addicted to Polk, now I just need to get more power to them.

Hey, do you know any good TV repair people in the area? I have Dan's TV scheduled for Friday, but Circuit City told me that they stopped using them because they couldn't fix anything.

Maybe CC wants work done too cheap.(?)
Dan's use to be one of the best shops in the area. Haven't had work done in a lot of years, so I can't speak for the current level of service. Sorry.
