Monitor Audio Silver S8
I bought these speakers yesterday..
http://www.monitoraudio.com/products/Past_Products/s_series/s8.htm
hmmm...why you might ask?
Well, aside from the impulse to spend the money I got selling my TV there are a few reasons I can think of: (Yes, that money was supposed to be used to pay for the new one, but..it's at 24 months without interest...so thought there would be better things to do with it )
-I have been wanting to have a "non SDA" decent speaker for a while.
-I am about to upgrade the xovers, so I need something to listen to while I do that.
-Thought of using my RTi8's, but I've heard them in my 2 channel rig and they are not made for that, at least to my ears.
-I have heard the S2's (bookshelves) and they sound impressively good
-Wanted something new/different...not everything needs to be Polk in this house...
-They have excellent reviews.
-The size is right.
I guess this is an adventure...but as mentioned I have heard their little brothers and they sound amazing; not harsh at all for metal dome tweeters and metal woofers.
Anyway, will get them tomorrow, so I'll post my impressions and real pictures in a few days.
Open for comments??

I got the beech (in the picture).
I paid a grand shipped (Saturday Audio), which is the best price I've seen so far._________________________________________________

Monitors are actually very nice, especially for the money. I agree, very tame for metal dome tweeters. Magnolia just started carrying them not too long ago, and I was pretty impressed with both the sound and the looks. My only complaint: they sound just a tad too airy in the sound. My friend described them as "wiffle ball speakers." Somehow that just seemed to fit perfectly.Current System:

They are here; no pictures yet......but WOW.... British know the meaning of craftsmanship; SOLID built and attention to details. Great looks and you can smell the quality of materials.
Right out of the box what surprises me is the TIGHT bass and detailed highs. Need to brake them in for 60-100 hours according to the manual_________________________________________________

Hey...wait a minute.....isn't the ability to project sounds beyond the speakers limited to the SDA's??? These little things are doing it... and I've not drinked anything yet today I guess this is what you'd call a wide soundstage._________________________________________________
