i come to you all, my polk audio bretheren and sisteren? i picked me up a 2001 chevy silverado for a sweet price. it's got leather seating and the drivers side has two small tears forming where the driver exits the vehicle. thinking about trying the as seen on tv repair kits, but get conflicting opinions online as to whether or not they work. i'll still go stop by an upholstery shop and see what they'll charge. anyone with any experience with these kits? much appreciated.

BIZILL i would prob. jsut take it to a professional who can replace the leather. It doesn't cost as much as you think. And I wouldn't be surprised if the side sills of the seat are vinyl, not leather.
Speaking of- it's ALWAYS the left-side of the drivers seat where the leather goes first. Why don't people take the freakin' time to clean the drivers side leather twice a month and that **** will not happen?
My dad had a 1990 Acura Legend that he passed down to me- he cleaned and babied that leather since day1 new. I took his advice and did the same during my tenure with the car. A 15 year old car whose leather never tore, it never ripped, it never broke apart.
Look closely at the drivers seat/exit side and that happens with almost every car i've ever seen with leather. Ever. I told my aunt when she bought her sc300 brand new to always maintain the leather on the drivers seat. The dealer told her to do the same. She hasn't touched it one damn time, and now she wonders why the leather's cracking and falling apart on the exit side of the drivers seat.
Stupid ****. -
yeah, it definately looks like vinyl where the tear is. the truck sits high and one must exit the truck by 'sliding' out of it. plus there is no tint to block the UV rays of the sun. and it's a phoenix, arizona truck. the sun beats down on it right where the tear is. i will probably just go to the upholstery shop and then tint the windows later. (i used to tint houses and cars) i like tinting myself because i make it look custom like the glass itself is smoked. i don't leave any weak-**** gap at the top of the window. anyway, thanks double a. i'm gonna pamper this beotch. she's a beaut.
