I'm setting up a Home Theater (Panny 50") in a room that is 18x16x7.5 (20x16 counting bookshelf&stereo shelves), the walls are cedar planked with hardwood floors, popcorn ceiling. There is a stereo system which will stay separate(Yamaha, Mcintosh,901's,201,c/c, and Yamaha A1000 DSP). I was in C/City and heard the RM6900(Onyko HT-570) speakers while the movie "Band of Brothers" was on, it was impressive as I could hear thier words and understand what they where saying, unlike some other systems I looked at.The center channel was clear and so where the two fronts. I like the idea of the small speakers for the front, but am willing to listen to suggestions on Polks. I intend ro expand to 7.1 or higher. I'd appreciate your comments etc. Thanks, Bill :)

    What's your budget?

    You could go 3 ways:

    1. LSi series
    2. RTi series
    3. Monitor series

I would personally go LSi9 for mains, LSiC for center, and LSiFX for surrounds. Couple that with an SVS sub and call it a day.

However, remember that the LSi are 4 ohm speakers and will strain your Yamaha receiver. You may want to go with a separate amp (separates) to drive the speakers and have your Yamaha act as a pre/pro unit.

My buget is roughly $1000.00 for a 5'1 system. Thanks for the response, you have started me off on the good stuff and I'm beginning to understand the Polk sytem. I can agree if I was going to spend more. Bill

I went to bed too. I'm taking the wife down to C/City this afternoon to listen to some speakers, I like the idea of T90EB's. I think Monitor 30's are close so we'll checkthem out also. Again thanks for your reply. Ciao, Bill

    Bill..

Keep in mind that the T90eb are on SALE. They are normally $700 a pair...... yes, $700 a pair. They are equal to Monitor 60, not the Monitor 30.

I would go for the towers (T90) because you wouldnt need to factor in the price of stands.

I like the idea of those t90's, but have a problem where to put them, it is hard to explain, the TV screen is in an alcove about 52'wide, screen is 48"wide,wall about 7"s wide on each side, then built in book cases all the way to the outer walls. One side is full of books, the otherside stereo&HT stuff(amps etc.) Putting them on the floor they would stick out about 7 to 8 "s from the bookcase. No way I can put them in the back of the room, I would go with smaller stuff there. This is one of the reasons I was looking at the 6900 series or even the RM7300 for a front. Talking to my wife she isn't to happy about having them stick out, got me thinking about notching the book cases. Not to bad on the book side, but the electronic side brings up problems. Hmm. Local store doesn't have any Monitor 60's, just 70's and 50's. The 70's sounded good. Took my wife to C/City to listen and everything was fouled up, the demo TV was gone from one system, the couldn't get the center channel working on an other system, (both Polk) finally got the center working on the 70's system with the cs2. The center was OK. Thanks for your feedback, gonna go and look at how I can saw something. Those 90's should sound close to the 70's. Ciao, Bill :)

    Bill...

Just to reiterate... if the T90eb are at all possible, you better get them soon. I dont think the Tweeter sale lasts past this week.

I like the idea of the 90's and I've been down in the den looking how I could saw out some shelves and it all seems possible as I'm redoing my stereo amp set-up to accomodate the Yamaha RX-V2600 and have to put in new shelves, lots of measuring as the wood shelves have to be braced with hidden steel. I'm not familiar with the "Tweeter" outfit but you people seem to think they are OK. Thanks,Bill :)

AWESOME Bill! I know you'll like them! Maybe the M10 for surrounds or the M30? Either will fit.... just remember that stands will add to the cost... so getting another pair of the T90 wouldnt be a bad idea.

For Center... either the monitor center 1 or 2.

    I'm going to bed.... snooze...

Joey,The configuration of the stuff in the back of the room, (Big gun safe, folding doors on one wall, hiding washer &dryer) only allows something mounted up high, so some measuring will be coming into play. You don't seem to get much sleep, but then the career you have chosen doesn't allow it anyway. Coupla my friends are Doc's or retired from that area.Ciao, Bill  :)

    Bill..

I see... well, I guess either the 67xx series or M10/30 would do as rears. You have the fronts covered extremely well with those Monitor 60s though!

As for sleep, yeah, I'm running on fumes. I study and surf the forums usually. I just got out of a Pharmacology exam just now... not too bad. I'm gonna eat now.
