I find it awesome, just watched mr. and mrs smith and it was great. It seems that with this you don't get all that (filler from Dolby dig. and dts.). I'm just wondering how the analog can sound so much better, is it the seperate channels? anyone?

nice speakers a very fine collection of Polks you have there. Someday you may want to take a look at what you use to drive them, until then then enjoy!!!

You are bypassing a lot of digital processing upon processing and eliminating some noise. I am actually planning on some experimentation here as well.Sharp Elite 70

If the channels are separated by the player and DAC'd to analog, they have the advantage of being separated by the source. I don't know what player you have, but you don't need an overclocked processor in your AVR to send one bit here, one bit over there, one bit down the hall. . . you just have to amp the signal.
There would be a what's better question. Does your player do a better job of separation and decoding, or your AVR. Unless the player is basement stock, it sould give better separation.
If the signal is not Dolby decoded by your player, then you are just running all channels in 'direct' mode and would hear much more detail, but the effects would be WAY overbearing.-Ignorance is strength -
