Thanks for the info Tour. I have an old pair of Jennings Research. Thay also used the peerless. I did the same pin hole with my solder gun. It did cut the highs back just enough to blend everything in. Funny how that small hole dead center of the dome can adjust the spike at about 10khz, very smooth now. I know I was taking a big risk in damaging the tweeters but I had to do it..lol. ;) And luckly it worked.

LOL... Well had I known ou were actually going to do it..

    1. I'd have suggested a hot needle.
    2. I'd have asked for a dispersion test before and after.

The former just to control the hole size, and the latter to see if it changed. I've suspected that the hole might have more to do with "beaming" than FR anomalies.

Anyway, glad your dice roll gave you positive results.

Well the beaming is dierected to a specific fr range. It amplifies the sweet spot in the fr range the tweeter already produces. The "spike range" seems to be between 10khz-15khz. Because of the "beaming effect" those fr are beamed from the direct center on the dome. By taking away the direct center of the dome, we take away the direct beam of that fr range. I dont know if i'm making any since to you but this is how I see it.

The tip of my iron is well sharpend, so a needdle was not needed.
