Hey whats up? I saw your thread that you replied to Kmitchel. You have the same speaker set up I have except for the sub. I have been trying to decide for awhile what receiver to buy. You have one that I am considering the B&K 507 series two. Been looking at Denon 4806 and Parasound also. How do you like the BK. Did you have a receiver before this and did you notice a big change in sound quality. How many watts does the BK push to the Rti10's think its 150 at 4 ohms. Do you like the BK and if I upgrade to the Rti12's will the Bk power those. I wrote back on Kmitchel thread also any help with this would be awsome. Since you have the set up and know how it sounds. THANK YOU in advance for any help. If anyone else has comments please tell me NEED HELP deciding. Also in my area it is hard to go and listen to these cant really find BK to hear it. So may have to order off the web.

First of all, B&K does not have ANY web dealers, so if you find one they're peddling stolen or unauthorized merchandise and B&K will never authorize repairs or upgrades (which they only allow to be done in Buffalo-not even authorized dealers are allowed to do most repairs or any upgrades).

Second, I love this receiver. I think it's the best sounding receiver I've ever heard, and in my opinion way better than the Denon 4806. I can't say I've ever heard the Sunfire receiver, or the Lexicon, but I've heard most others, and I really think B&K is one of the best, if not the best. Here's the hitch, though. B&K is all about sound quality. That's where most of their money goes. So, you don't get a lot of the features that a lot of other receivers offer (XM radio, HDMI switching, etc.). But that's why I love it so. In my opinion, it's more than enough to drive either the 10's or 12's to get great results. A bigger, separate amp may open up the 12's a bit more, but I never listen to music w/ the B&K and 10's and wish I had a better amp.

Compared to my old Onkyo 701, the B&K is night and day different. Opens up the two mains for stereo like opening shutters on a sunny day. Detail is better, dynamics, you get no sense that there is any strain on the amp or speakers when the volume is high or when dynamics amp up suddenly in the music. For movies, you get a whole new level of detail, volume and presence that a lesser receiver can't offer. If you're set on going the receiver route, the B&K would be an excellent choice. I can't say enough good things about it. One piece of advice, though. Never use the "eq" mode-such as "vocal" or others. Just choose "flat" as the others sound horrible. Don't even mess with it. Really don't know why they included that.
