amplifier power requirement

Hi all,

I am installing 4 pairs of ceiling speakers (RC60i) via a 4 pair speaker selector (Parasound zSelect). Ideally, I'd like to use a mini-system (Denon M33S) to power these speakers, but don't know if these have high enough power ratings to push all 8 speakers? What is the minimum power amplifier I'd need to effectively power all 8 ceiling speakers?

The RC60i's are rated as follows:
Overall Frequency Response 40Hz - 20kHz
Lower -3dB Limit 60Hz
Upper -3dB Limit 20kHz
Nominal Impedance 8 ohms
Recommended Amplifier Power 20 - 100 w/channel
Efficiency 89 dB

Thanks in advance.

Stan

The parasound will do the impedence balancing for you, so you don't have to worry about frying the amp, but the output will be divided four ways. That dennon does 22 wpc, so each speaker will get about 5.5 watts with the power cranked all the way up and you're going to lose some power in the impedence balancing, so think more like 3 watts. That's well under the recommended power. Will it work? Yes, but if you find yourself putting the volume more than about halfway up to get the loudness you want, then you need to get a bigger system.

Thanks for that explanation... now I have a clear idea of what I'll need.
