I've owned 10 of these over a 2 year period and never had the caps go bad once. Maybe I was lucky as I did read about it. The last 4 I had I sold to a guy in RI and he did just sell one of them along with one of the 308's he got from me. He may be willing to part with another one.

Here's the one he sold: http://cgi.ebay.com/Onkyo-Grand-Integra-M-508-Amplifier-P-308-Pre-Amp_W0QQitemZ5853002569QQcategoryZ71549QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And here's the auction when he bought them:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=71549&item=5814319277

It would be worth an email to see if he wants to sell one of the other three he should still have.

    Good Luck in your search.

Ohskigod, Thanks for the tip on the caps.

Screename, Looks like current auction # 5814319277 is using your pics to sell his amps and it doesn't look like the same guy who bought them from you. I will definately send the legit buyer an e-mail.

It seems that just a few months ago these were selling for an average $700. All of a sudden, the winter brought prices up by several hundred dollars. I'm wonering if the summer will see prices back down or if this is a trend on e-bay of climbing prices.

The number you listed is from my auction, but I do see them listed under auction #5858786659. This is a fraudulent auction. Fricking scammers on Ebay. I sent an email to ebay.
    Again, Good Luck.

Here's my 1989 Vintage Onkyo System consisting of the following components:

    M-508 - Grand Integra Amp
P-308 - Grand Integra Pre Amp
    EQ-540 - Integra EQ
    DX-7500 - Integra CD Player
    TA-2800 - Integra Tape Deck
    T-4700 - Integra Tuner

I bought it all in Okinawa in 1989 and used it for about two years. Since then, it has pretty much been boxed up in the original boxes.

    Delirium tremens maybe.

Serioulsy, I don't know why they turned out blurry. I took them on a good Canon Elph. I try again and see if I can do better as theese pictures do not do the system justice.

I have a big M-5090 (difficult at best to get info on, but the only Onk amp that sold for more money was the M-510) and sometimes it's blurry.

Keiko - When it powers on in standby during the self test, they are orange, and when it completes its self test, they turn green.

George Grand - Nice Amp! The M-5090 is a beast.:D I am not sure what the M-5090 sold for, but the M-508 sold for $1200 USD new. I am pretty sure the M-5090 was sold from 81 to 85 and the M-508 was sold from 86-91. The M-508 is Grand Integra, and is a true Dual Monoblock design. Do you have the matching P-3090 Preamp too?

This amp was $1,800 in 1982, date of manufacture. No, I don't use any of the Onkyo preamps. I use the M-5090 to drive the 4 x 12" WOOFERS IN THE AR-9's.

You are saying the lights in the meters are orange until the self test? Or the servo/speaker selector lights are orange until self test check is done? If/when the green VU meter lights in my M504 go out, think I am gonna replace them with orange lights.

I am saying that when you first Power On the Amp, the Meters, the light below each one, and the Servo light as shown in the Picture are Orange and then after a minute or so they all switch to Green. It is during this time the unit is performing a self test of the Protection Circuit. I think the Speaker Select lights are always Green. I hope thats clear.

The M-5090 goes through the same gyrations. Orange lit meters at power up that turn to green lighting after everything has stabilized and the amp comes out of the protect mode. About 10 seconds or so.

I absolutly love my 508. I use it in lieu of my Mac 2205 with the big blue meters. My 308 went to a repair shop that cannibalized an aux input for one of the mains. Seems they don't make replacement parts and I went to a less then reliable repair guy. I know better and have waaaayyy better now with a local guy. Sure would like a perfect 308!
